My favorite places in the lower keys are getting destroyed. Here is the eye wall going over the Big Pine, Ramrod Keys. The eye is so big it goes from Key West to almost Islaramada. Cat 4 land fall. Bummer. We have had a shit ton of tornadoes. I was outside about an hour ago and heard one. Could not see it but it was a freight train in the sky.

Best of luck to you Gator. Keep your head above water. Would be disappointing to hear that anything serious has happened to you or your family.

Thanks. Its the tornados that are what bothers me. The most I have ever seen in a hurricane . They are usually not strong ones but any tornado is not good. Going to be a long day and night. Its such a big storm its going to take a long time to clear out. Going to watch Moto GP before I lose power.

Yeah stay safe Gator! I'm also very worried about the keys between Key West and Marathon, they took a direct hit from the northeast edge of the eye wall - hopefully all the bridges will still be in one piece. Key West is probably okay as they were on the much weaker western side of the eye - they got really lucky actually. Looks like Marco Island is about to take a direct hit from the nasty NE part of the eye in the next hour and then Naples.

We're already feeling an outer band way up in Orlando - a ton of rain and my tornado warning radio just went off a minute ago - it's gonnaa be a long night especially if the power goes out!

Just got another tornado warning - I put on my motorcycle helmet and armored jacket just in case - do folks who live in tornado prone areas think it would help? I'm thinking if the windows blow out or parts of my roof hit my head it would come in handy :D

Well it certainly can't hurt to have on more protection.

Rain is slowing down but the wind is still cranking. This storm is so bif that the southern feeder bands are all the way to Cuba and the northern bands are in Charleston SC!

Yep, it's huge - check out this radar image! It looks like a real nasty band is gonna be training into Orlando for the next several hours. They just announced a death in Orlando from the storm :(

I have done it! Protection is protection. Here in Tornado alley it's the small rooms, closets and spaces under stairs that save you. I have ridden out several tornadoes but I can't imagine a Hurricane. Tornadoes don't last for days. Most of the damage, done to people, is by flying stuff. Wear gloves and boots too. Please stay safe.

I'm sorry to hear about your tree and hope you can save it. Best of luck to you Floridians in weathering out this storm.

one of my sisters lives near Destin, beautiful, place bit of a secret place over here, I have only met two people in the UK that have heard of it and funnily enough one of them lives across from me and has been there my other sister is in regular contact with her and have not heard anything so hopefully all is ok, my thoughts go to people that have been effected by this wherever they are

Took four hours but I got the tree back up. Hope it survives. Some downed trees broken fences nothing really bad around here. The Florida Keys are another story. I've heard complete distraction of roads, buildings, businesses, boats and bridges. A 12 foot title surge in that area is catastrophic.

There was 70 to 80% of Floridians without power. That's pretty amazing for the entire state.

Just saw a shot of boats on the roads in the keys, one had twin outboards and one of the props was turning in the breeze. Right now Jacksonville is getting in-undated by flooding.

Keys are bad, no power, no water, no cell service and bridges have to be inspected before traffic can get down there. Hemingway House made it along with the 55 cats.

It is the overall magnitude of the areas that were hit with wind and surges that boggles the mind. I have family in Tampa and they were spared.

We had a few trees go down in my neighborhood and lots of tree limbs and debris to clean up - see vid - but fortunately no major damage. I feel bad for the folks who took the brunt of this storm.

    Unless it is a snow-I-cane, or snow-cado.

    I'd rather have a snow-cado than a sharknado :D
