That's a fun little ride out there from I-90. Honestly surprised it was decently busy. I thought end of season would be a little quieter, guess others had the same idea.

Not much with moto lately, but had some time last weekend to:

    wash and detail
    sit and stare at moto
take a stroll through the park
sit and stare at moto more
sit and think and think and sit together under Kansas cottonwoods

Trying to enjoy last nice days of Kansas weather and time off when I have it.

Nothing too exciting, but I re-glued my throttle grip. Pulled it off cleaned the throttle tube and grip with contact cleaner. Roughed up the plastic with 220 grit sandpaper, then glued it on with Renthal grip glue. No more movement! ( Well except for the twisty part...)

Hair spray (Aquanet super hold) and safety wire is usually how I put on and keep the grips secured on the bars.

Hmmm...might need to try this. Heated grips heat up (wether by sun or because the grips are turned on) and slide all about.

The glue provided by Oxford Heaterz has not been adequate.

The grips I buy have "channels" in them for the safety wire. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to do it. Although a pair of safety wire pliers works best, with some practice you can do it with a good pair of vice grips. BTW, plenty of safety wire pliers available on eBay and even Harbor Freight. I just bought a new pair that will spin the wire in either direction and I will be putting them to good use this Saturday as I prep for another track day.

These are the ones I have and you can see the two channels on the ends of the grip. Even if you do not have these channels, with the right size wire, you can still wire them down.

    I has confuse.

My 99 VFR is running hot. I know, I know, it's what they do...
My fan works and comes on as scheduled. But, even with brand new distilled water and water wetter, after an extended radiator flush, it still heats up and even at idle, it won't come down with the fan. It just stays at that temp, whatever it may be. The fan can't bring it down and it's pulling hard. I felt it with my hand and it's definitely pulling air across the radiator.

My theory is either collapsed or misrouted hose, or thermostat partially stuck open. If I'm moving, the temp drops, unless there's traffic in front of me.

I'm stumped. I'm running zero antifreeze, just WW and water. I don't understand. Coming up a canyon today it was at 233°. It didn't go past that, but my 6th gen only got this hot once. I even replaced my radiator cap today with on that is 1.4bar/20psi, because my bike was boiling at 250° a short while ago up on Mulholland.

    I'm really kind of stumped.

Bought it couple weeks ago needing a rear tire. Ordered it day before yesterday, got it today. Plus had adaptors made to accommodate larger openings on wheel. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you are running just water wetter and water.
I talked to an engineer at an oil/coolant company a while back, and he gave me some good generic info.
He told me that if a maufacturer lists a 50/50 ratio of coolant and water, you need to stick to it as there is a reason for it.
Water is the best coolant full stop, but it boils too low and too quickly, and has no anticorrosion properties. 100% Coolant is great at not boiling and anticorrosion, but is crap compared to water as it does not transfer heat any where near as efficiently, but:
When a 50/50 ratio is recommended, it's normally because there are internal hot spots inside the engine.
As coolant travels around inside the water jackets, it will flow past these hot spots that boil water instantly, but at a 50/50 ratio coolant can flow past this without boiling.
25/75 ratio is much better at cooling, but will not survive internal hot spots.
Apparently hot spots are a lot more common inside newer compact motorcycle engines.
Water wetter is not an antiboil from what I understand.
    Just my two bobs worth.
