    Hello people,
I have a question regarding this oil.
    I own a 5th gen 1998 and poured 300v 10w40 in the bike.
It feels like the engine runs a bit smoother and the clutch disengages and engages a little bit better

Now for the question: I want to keep using this Racing Oil for Daily Drive. I don't want to go back to 7100. Has any one had experience with this oil ? How often should i change it ?

    I would appreciate a detailed answer :)

PS: I also send an official mail to Motul to ask the same think but also wanted to ask if any one else uses this oil.

    Thank you

    Hi Kale,

Sorry, I don't have the specific experience you asked for. Motul is a world renowned top quality brand. I would use it without any reservations - well, one reservation, the cost - and would change it at the same intervals as any other oil. For me that is dependent on the type of use my motorcycle gets, not the type of oil I use. With that said, many people are more comfortable extending the oil change interval when using a top quality synthetic oil.

I have been using Shell Rotella T6 for years and am happy with it. I know Rotella is not sold in Europe, but I believe the Shell equivalent is Shell Rimula R6 LM in 10W-40 or Rimula Ultra in 5W-30.

    Cheers,
    Glenn

That's what you get from a better synthetic (Amsoil myself) smoother, better shifts

I run it in my CBR track bike and have started using it in the VFR for a few years. Yes it is expensive but arguably the best oil on the planet. LDH who is a member here but does not visit often, has a lot of experience with race teams and the oil they use. He has told me on more than one occasion that a LOT of race teams with sponsorship from other oil brands actually fill up their sponsors jugs with 300V.

Thank you for the info provided.
The thing is, i read many topic on many forums regarding this type of oil and the opinions are different from person to person. Some people just say NO to racing oil without a solid backup and that really pisses me off because there is no actual reason behind it, even my mechanic said NO, that it looses it's quality after 24h and after 3 months i will have issues getting it out (i call this bull shit to be honest)
For now i have around 800 km with ~2 weeks and its Green on the oil window.
I very happy with this oil and would like to stick with it for the next 5-6 oil changes maybe even more, but i still worry about the change intervals and the fact that i don't have an official answer from Motul yet.

    @Gastor
I understand the fact that it's the best oil but don't forget my style of ride. Every day i go to work, after work i occasionally go for small rides outside of town and from time to time i go red line to feel the power of the V4 (i'm actually very proud of this engine)

My 95 Ducati 900SS seems to run best with Motul 300V 15W50 so I started to run the 300V 10W40 in my 5 Gen, as it's more of my "play bike", the bike runs well and shifts great so I started to run it in my 6 Gen (commuter/tourer) but the oil change regiment is different. I try and replace the 5 Gen oil at 5-6k intervals but the 6 Gen closer to 8k. The main difference is how I ride them, the 5 Gen gets pushed and ridden a lot more aggressively than the 6 Gen so I feel better about changing the 5 Gen sooner.

Oil change frequency. Follow the user's manual recommendations. The frequency is based on averages anyway. If it calls for 12,000 km like mine does, I don't think it is going to make a big difference or hurt the bike if on occasion you do 13,000. I change mine at 10,000 on the tens just because is easier to keep track of. Used to use Motul semi synthetic but got fed up with the expenses so changed to Rotella T6 several years ago. I use the same oil in my bike, my Diesel truck, and my son and wife's Civics. Only one can of oil stored in my shop. BTW. 209,000 km so I guess I am doing something correct. Not one issue on the bike attributed to oil. Ridning style are varied. All over the map from spirited to long trips and freeway hour long commutes

Thank you for the strong support. I will continue to monitor the oil's color.

So, you're pissed off because you go on a forum and get different opinions!!?? Really?? If you want "solid back-up", why not just contact the manufacturer? Some racing oils do not have a good additive formula made for street use. I don't know about this particular Motul but, were I you, I damned sure wouldn't be asking people I don't know on an internet forum such questions, then getting pissed off because I didn't get the answers exactly like I want to get. Why go on a forum with that kind of attitude and unrealistic expectation?

Wow, I didn't get that interpretation from his communication at all. I thought he had asked the manufacturer and didn't get an answer, but not going back through the posts to confirm that. Sometimes we need to give a little slack for the translations of foreign members whose English may be their third or fourth language. I thought he got pissed off by people who said "no, don't use it" but couldn't give any actual reason for that declaration.

I think his understanding of the English language is very good. I did go back and read this thread and stick by my posts.

I've used Motul 300v for the last ~70,000 miles most of that time i was doing 5000mi changes but after forgetting a change and running it almost 10k it was still fine smooth and quiet as always came out darker as you would expect. Its got a high TBN so its ok for long intervals. I'm currently planning to do some more 10ks on purpose and have them tested.

I got pissed off on other people on other forums (when i read the comments, i did not reply) when they just said NO without any reason or something to prove that answer. 4 days ago i got an answer from Motul (yes, very late answer) and they said it's ok for my riding style (i detailed in the email) and it's safe to drain the oil around 4000-5000 km or 3000 miles. They also stated that 300v is not meant for long drain intervals and when i told them my riding style and when i plan to drain the oil, they said it's safe and all good but never forget that 300v is a racing oil.

Having the answer from Motul and people on other forums just say NO without any reason, why can't i get pissed off when they don't tell us WHY is a NO ?

Now that you explained your pissedoffedness, it's easier to understand. That isn't something worth getting pissed off or emotional about for me. Internet forums consist of a bunch of people with opinions. All oil threads end with, use what you want. It's your bike.
