My suspension has 23,000 miles on it so I’m looking to refresh it.

Kind of on the fence between the 8975 and sending my stock shock to DMr. Haven’t seen a ton of info out there about this shock, even on other forums. I’ve looked into retrofitting shocks from other bikes (919 etc), but decided against it as I read it wasn’t a perfect fit and makes some noise.

Either way, the forks I’m looking to go DMr.

Ironically I sent my Penske to DMr to have it rebuilt! I don’t recall the model of shock I have but the seller (eBay) said it was off of his GSXR, which may have been true but when I sent it to Penske to see if they could confirm what type it was and whether it was in usable condition, they said it was from a flat track bike!

The model I have has both rebound and compression damping adjusters but manual preload adjustment. Jamie at DMr rebuilt it to suit my weight and riding type and I’m really happy with it. In fact all of my bikes have DMr upgraded suspension and I’m happy with the work that Jamie has done. As far as retro fitting a different model shock, talk to Jamie about that too, he does his rebuilds for other Honda model shocks for the VFR so that they fit and work as well and better than OEM.

I wasn’t aware asking relevant questions on a forum was shill behavior... lol

I have no idea why anyone would claim shill. Whatever.

I really don't know anything about the Penske shock, but there are a LOT of people happy with Dmr suspensions.

Late to the party I know. I have 3 bikes equipped with Penske shocks, a single adjust (VFR), a 2-way (R6 track), and a 3-way (RSV1K former track). The 2-way I have on the R6 did have a problem with a bushing internally that had disintegrated over time (unknown to me until after I crashed). I had the shock re-built and it's been good since. Both the 2-way and 3-way units have performed well (better than I can) at Barber (technical track), NCM (tech track), and TGPR (short fun track). My VFR is not a track bike and the single adj Penske on her I find to be far better than stock (I guess any upgrade would be), worth the money to me. Just another $0.02 ...
