    Hay everyone,

I was thinking about my first bike the other day and wondering if it was still on the road.
It was a black 1986 vfr 700f. The motor started smoking pretty bad so I pulled it and replaced it with a 750 from a 90's bike.
Sadly I had to sell it in 2005. I know it's a long shot, but has anyone heard of, or own a bike that matches that discription? I can't imagine there have been too many other bikes with that swap.

I bought an '87F2 last summer that had tried that swap, and the gen3 engine only mounted to a few points, unlike the original engine with alot more. didn't look like a good setup, and some major interference with the shift shaft.

I remember I had to fabricate a couple of engine brackets, including one that wrapped around the frame. The kickstand needed to be moved back a couple of inches to miss the shift shaft, and the rear header had to be modified as well. All in all I don't remember it being a terribly hard swap.

since there's going to be fewer engine mounting points to bolt up, and since the engine partly stiffens the chassis, i decided against going with the gen3. too much flex?? dunno but didn't want to try it.

on the other hand, a gen3 engine in a 2 would be a good improvement !! o_O beefed-up cam gears and other upgrades to valve train.

I really didn't notice any chance in the way the bike handled. But it was faster and the gear wine seemed louder, so it's funny you mentioned the beefier cam gears.
So if your not going to go with the Gen 3 motor, what's your plan for the bike? Are there still 700f engines around?

i'm in the process of getting the highly-modified RC24 750 engine i bought to replace the gen3.......running. a few problems need to be fixed, and i'm working on lapping-in 2 leaky intake valves, might need to do others too ? HRC parts, ya know, can't lettum go to waste. :Amen:

I just read the other threads, so now I'm up to speed.
It's funny you bought your old bike back without realizing it. What are the odds
