    Hello,
was wondering, if anyone know how exactly the tip over protection on the VFR works. As far as i understand the bike needs to fall down and the protection will shut the engine off. So far so good, my problem is that in two occasions, when my bike was going down(together with me on it), but in fact stood back up somehow, the protection did shut off the engine. What i am a bit worried is that in both occasions despite the bike being almost parallel to the ground i wasn't scraping anything.......... Based on measurements and calculations that i have done its indeed almost impossible to scrape a peg , or the central stand, however i have seen people claiming they did scrape pegs. So what i am worried is, if some day i decide to go to the track my bike may shut off on me, on some corner........... this can be quite dangerous, if it happens during the entrance of a turn.

The pegs can be scraped in a corner, even after you remove the feelers. Also scraped the exhaust header a little before we shimmed the shock to raise the rear slightly. This was at the track. Only time the engine shut off was when it fell over, never in a turn.

The tip-over switch is located under the instruments, and requires a tilt of >60 degrees to activate. I would expect that in any normal bit of corner leaning, the centrifugal force will keep the sensor close to normal vertical (i.e. very far from activating cutting the engine run circuit). I've never heard of anyone having this sensor activate in normal use, unless the sensor has become loose and is swinging about.

When the switch is activated by a tip-over, it latches open until the ignition is reset.

    Hi,
thanks for the tips. I found the switch and indeed, if there is G force acting it will not activate, no matter the lean angle. Its clear now how it works, the bike needs to lose traction under heavy lean for it to activate. That explains why it has activated on me. The bike simply lost traction completely for a second and at the same time went into heavy lean. Due to lack of G force in that particular second it has activated.
