Sooooooo, all over the world? Already the case in North America since 2015 (no new ones for 2016) and Europe, Australia and South America all had 2016 & 2017 models.

Are there ANY 2018 models ANYWHERE?

If not, there needs to be a ride this summer!

There are still many new VFR800 Interceptors available in the USA as well and they are still listed on the Honda USA website. But availability is not the issue. The news in Laurie's post above is that Honda is saying they've reached the "end of the line for the model" which presumably means Honda has ended production.

    There's a 2018 model on sale in Sweden, that's what I meant.
The question is what they mean by "current year is the end", when I first read it I thought if it as the 2017 but it might be 2018 model.

I took it to mean they won't be building any more VFR800's.

I found and read the Australian FB post and watched the video and it's interesting how they are very careful in their wording to focus solely on the VFR800F model (and its beginnings in Australia in '97/'98) and that this model has reached the end of the line. IMO they are leaving the door open for an all new model / generation - for example a 2019 or 2020 VFR1000 to compete with the V4 powered Italians

I assume the earlier generations of the VFR were also sold in Australia? I find it interesting how the vid is captioned (see screen shot below) like a grave marker as "1998-2017 VFR800F", and not something like "1983-2017 VFR". This gives me hope that there will be a 9th gen VFRXXX(X). What's scary though is their use of the hashtag "#farewelltotheVFR" instead of "#farewelltotheVFR800F".

As Rhino mentioned, Honda Sweden has a 2018 model listed - see screen shot below. I'm not sure about Sweden, but from what I remember not all countries are sticklers about a vehicle's "model year" like the USA is. In the USA, most every vehicle (including the VFR800) has a sticker clearly identifying it as being a particular "model year" and also provides a month and year of manufacture. In some other countries the bikes don't have a "model year" stuck on them and they seem to be more loosey goosey with what "year" the bike is. Perhaps the announcement by Honda Australia just means they've now gone the route of USA and Canada and won't be offering anything beyond what they've already got in stock but that Europe and/or Japan may still be getting new production? Are there any members in Japan who can definitively tell us whether the assembly line for VFR800's has been shut down?

IMG_2576.PNG There is one new vfr advertised on Bikesales Australia at the moment. Over the past several months there have been at least 3 or more, including the current silver model.
I guess once they've gone, that the end of them.
I'm not really surprised. Adventure bikes and large capacity cruisers seem to be the bike of choice now.
On the group rides that I go on my vfr is usually the only mid size sports tourer.

Wow - only one left! I just ran a search for new (leftover '14 and '15) Interceptors on CycleTrader and there are still 82 of them left in the USA :D

As far as I am concerned, my current bike will be with me for at least another 4-5 yrs or more or until I am dead?;-) . Nothing is made forever and will make this bike a bigger ICON in the end for some.

Glad I got mine when I did, nothing is for ever and I'm sure something new and wonderful will come into our lives sooner or later.

On a whole different slant, I went to the new race track here in South Australia called "The Bend"
for the Aust Superbike Round and Asia Road Racing Championship. Track length for the bikes was 4.95 km with a lap time of around 1.53 and top speed of 295kmh. Fantastic track and though the whole complex is a long way from completion I think it will soon feature a lot of major events.
Troy Bayliss is competing in the Aust Superbike series this year at 49yo on a Ducati and going pretty well though he did crash yesterday and got the race red flagged on lap 7 of 10. He was up and hobbled off..

Well, let's face it. The VFR appeals to a niche market: those who want to ride long distances at a brisk pace with some degree of comfort. Harley wannabes won't buy VFRs because they require some riding skills. Ninja wannabes will want something racier for their brief and ill-fated forays into motorcycling. My VFR is a good, versatile bike and I'm happy to have it. If Honda can't make a profit with it, then they should stop production: I do want the company to be around to keep making parts into the future.
