Posted elsewhere, but the mechanics forum seemed a better place:

I just came back from 2,400 miles (!) in a week on my VFR. Loved the trip, but somewhere outside Abilene, Texas, I would have killed for heated grips.
I'm in Albuquerque, where there is snow and it gets cold, especially on my favorite mountain roads at 9,000 feet.

My question: What is under the right grip? I know it's throttle by wire. Does it have a plastic throttle tube like other bikes? Do I need to buy VFR1200 specific grips? Any surprises lurking there? I'm not sure if I can add heated grips that go OVER the bar like a regular grip, or if I must get the heated grips that ATTACH TO the bar (the kind with the sticky back that are really thin.).

    Anyone done this?
    Thanks.

Not sure what you mean but I fitted Oxford grips to my VFR 800 last christmas. The throttle on that one is just a plastic roller thingy. The only problem was to get the left hand side to stick. Tried a lot of tricks but ended up using the glue that came with the grips.
