OMG it's killing me. One of the mirrors constantly goes out of adjustment when traveling over rough to semi-rough roads. I don't see anything to tighten up except for the big allen bolt where the arm is attached to the fairing. And that is just for the swivel hinge (which also sucks, if you adjust the angle the bolt immediately becomes loose and the whole thing just flops around).

The mirror "head" itself, how do I tighten that bad boy up?

I'm guessing there is no way to tighten it since 0 of 47 people have the answer. Though, I guess that's better than "replace them with...." responses. :wheelie:

Well I am not sure. On my 2006 there is some potential for adjustment at various points (just by tightening down relevant mounting bolts) - but you really need to identify where (why) the mirror is vibrating. Does the problem affect both mirrors or just one? If just one chances are its suffered from tip over damage and may not be fixable.

Either way I would start by checking the mirror is firmly bolted in place to the fairing/frame.

Beneath the screen there is a cross head screw which undoes allowing that triangular plastic cover to be removed. Take care not to drop the screw!!! as they can vanish!

That should allow you to see and tighten the concealed bolts holding the mirror. If that is snug check that allen key pivot bolt - if its the same as mine there is a plastic body coloured cover to prise off which will reveal an allen head bolt. If that won't tighten up there may be an equivalent allen head beneath to work against.

(NB you want that allen nut tight but not over tight - as they will be the first thing to hit the deck if the bike tips over - so you want it just tight enough to stay put in normal use but loose enough to give and swing out of the way rather than snap clean off if the bike falls on it.

As for the mirror itself - it should be fairly firmly fixed into its frame but with room to pivot provided by a gimble fitting - if that is loose - I don't think it has any adjustment in which case just buy a cheap emgo clone mirror which pretty much OEM for much less than Mr H wants to charge you.

Have fun - Let us know how you get on.

Thanks. In the pic below, the mounting bolts (number 1) there's no issues with.
The big allen bolt (number 2) doesn't come loose, unless you grab the stalk and adjust it. Then it's loose and wants to pivot forward or backward until you tighten it.
The biggest pain, the one I'm referring to, is the "head" or the actual mirror itself that pivots at number 3, that's where it's loose and I'm always readjusting.

(Now that I'm re-reading your post, I think you've answered it)

The aftermarket show their differences after a few years of use. The arm on the OEM is powder coated and stay black while the aftermarket loose their paint and you can see the pot metal construction. But they work fine.

WAG. Wonder if you twist the mirror head to tighten it.

I don't know for sure but I am willing to bet the adjustment for this is behind the glass.
