Respectfully have to disagree. If this had happened in the UK, it might be her who may who lost her life.

When my Mother started getting very angry at the onset of dementia, things got very scary, she became a raging maniac, definitely wasn’t the awesome Mom I knew.
Finally talked her physician into prescribing a
    anti-psychotic.
Turned her into almost a child until she passed.

Most bikes don’t sit in traffic , we are allowed to filter ( lanesplit) , so most likely wouldn’t have happened. Someone would have acted.

Having read the paper” if you can call it that as 10 year old could write better” there are several discrepancies within the print and what she says in the video interview.

In the vid it really looks like she needs therapy. NOT

I don't see that there is any issues here. Guy assaults girl, girl defends herself shoots guy, guy dies, girl lives. The threat of road rage is part of what we live with when on the roads. The threat of people assaulting other people, possibly us, is what we live with when around other people. The consequences and results are a part of what we live with afterward if we are involved, well except the bastards that die!

I agree regarding traffic filtering, it's something that should be legalised across the whole of the US. Somebody acting to protect her in the UK, that can't be assured, but if she did get cornered my comment still stands.

I didn't read all of the responses. I know road rage personally in two instances. One in a cage and another on a bike. The one on the bike was about a man of the same age driving a corvette. He cut me off and I reacted in anger. I flipped him off in anger. My mistake! He cut me off again after speeding up and sped ahead then slowed down suddenly to make me come in contact with his car to harm me. This was in local traffic and of course and he eventually came behind me at a stop light.

I was young and dumb and got off the bike and went to him not to fight but verbally say "WTF". This was before "Road Rage' was identified. He reached in and pulled out a .9mm out of the glove box and pointed it at me. He told me to get the fuck away or he would shoot me. Of course I did, but was even more pissed thinking really killing me is an option for you when you could have with the car? I went my way and he went the other. I wish that I would have gotten his license plate, but being in front I did not. at the time it was Illegal in Utah to brandish a weapon in an incident outside of your home. This was before concealed weapons where legal and at the time it was Illegal to carry any fire arm in a concealed area in your car in Utah. I have learned to relax a bit more on the bike over the years. Or I would be dead. Currently in Utah law, you car or vehicle is an extension of your home and you do not need a permit to have a firearm in either. You just need to have 2 actions to discharge. You can have a full magazine loaded, but nothing in the camber. So you have to cock the firearm and pull the trigger to be legal. Crazy time we live in.

Hmm. I recall the incident in Sacramento. I do not know about the original incident. The article seemed written specifically to do as NCB mentioned. Provide fodder for the constant political machinations of the extreme rights advocates.

As someone trained in the use of deadly force, I have often wondered what it would do to me had I ever had to use it.

It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. You take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

American car culture is: roads belong to cars, other vehicle just don't belong; especially when traffic flow comes to a crawl.
Bicycles and motorcycles are toys, don't belong on the roads even when traffic flow slows to a standstill; it would be justified if someone gets hurt trying to get by when I'm stuck in bumper-to-bumper in my car .

    After living in many countries around the world, most of them don't have roads as nice as here in the US, most of them have 2-wheel vehicle outnumber cars;
filtering & lane-splitting for 2-wheel vehicle among cars are common as pedestrians jaywalking. AFAIK, vehicle fatality in those countries are no higher proportionally than US statistics. In addition, most of those countries have no laws or regulations that pertain to filtering or lane-splitting.

If one chooses to operate a vehicle that cannot maneuver among tight traffic pattern, why hinder other vehicles that can get by safely without problem?

Sure there are cyclists and motorcyclists that set bad examples and ride poorly among traffic, endanger others on the road; but are all cyclist or motorcyclist to be stereotyped as such?

Legal or not, the facts are: filtering through traffic standstill when you have a narrow vehicle is just helping to reduce traffic volume, reduce pollution levels and overall reduce wait time for all stuck in traffic.
Most American drivers fail to realize that and think allowing narrower vehicles to filter through is somehow unfair for those stuck in traffic with larger vehicles. Sad that people can't think for the common good beyond their own immediate surrounding; that's big problem in current American society.

You have hit the nail on the head when it comes to the narcissistic auto culture that plagues the USA. Very well said sir.

Very true. In fact I had a friend that went to Great Britain a few years back and rented a car to get around. He was irate
that there were bicycles slowing him down out on the country roads. BTW he doesn't ride a bicycle either.

    Well said.

All very good observations, but when you have radio personalities telling people to open their doors into lane splitting motorcycles in CA, you know what the potential for problems are going to be. Most people's thoughts are just regurgitated thoughts that they hear from someone else. There isn't really a "traffic" problem, it's more a "driving" problem, well that, and the overall intelligence decline of US citizens.

I'm glad she was armed, and I'm a far left Seattlelite. I doubt this guy would have acted this way toward a man his own size - he knew he could physically intimidate this person, and that's why he did. If some 6' 2" dude with broad shoulders got off that bike, he would have blustered and backed down.

Bullshit responses here white-nighting for this girl - I remember this event and people linking to her social media - she was a wannabe tough guy go grrrl bragging that she carries and was going to pop somebody if they gave her half a reason - that she had scared off tail gaters by brandishing her piece. No doubt a foul mouthed punk like so many of her ilk especially Seattle/Portland types. You can damn well bet she instigated at least in part and was looking for a 'fight' and found someone dumb enough to roll the dice. You simps just go on and simp for this go grrrl just because she's a girl.

Interesting information! Maybe she benefitted from #metoo?

And if you're talking about Antifa types - Total wastes of oxygen/natural resources IMnshO...

On a semi-side note, with regards to her accessing, deploying, and firing her handgun, I wonder how she was carrying and how she managed to get it and use it - what kind of riding gear was she wearing (one or two piece leathers? pockets, no pockets?)?

Talking about BS posts! Lucky gal that you are not the prosecutor. Although I have no idea what all that would have to do with him physically attacking her and the results he received. But at least now, I know I'm a 'simp'!

I think there's a difference in talking tough and acting out on it. If she did brandish her weapon as you allege, a call to the police would have resulted in her being charged and revocation of her CPL. Whilst I may run over scenarios in my head where I might have draw my concealed pistol, I'm probably like most cops who prefer it not come to that if at all possible. As for her instigating the event, where's your evidence?

"As for her instigating the event, where's your evidence?"

It could also be reversed: "Where's your evidence she didn't?". All the linked article offers is her story, no corroborating
or supporting stories from anyone else. Who knows. Seems like if it was heavy traffic she should have been able to use
her maneuverability to her advantage and get the hell out of Dodge.

Some CCP people think, and I know some, that they shouldn't have to try hard to avoid trouble. That's why they're armed,
or so they say. If she hadn't been armed maybe she would have made more of an effort to escape an escalating situation.

And yes, I'm armed and have always been armed.

I agree with some of the points you make. For me, unless I've read or seen evidence to the contrary on this matter from a reputable source, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt on her part. As for her getting out of dodge, a little lane splitting or a quick shoulder ride may have got her out of trouble. However I'm not sure if it's wise to do that under the duress of knowingly being chased. The risk to her and other road users goes up. I prefer not to quarterback this one too much, I wouldn't want to be in her shoes. Despite exoneration from the DA, the emotional toll she has to bear in the aftermath is substantial. Something for all people to consider who choose to be armed before the pistol leaves the holster.

Well she is asking others to help her with cash in order that she can shoulder that emotional toll.

Having never carried a weapon I have little idea about the safest and most secure way to carry one on your person whilst riding a motorcycle. I would hazard however that in order to be safe, secure and concealed, it would be extremely difficult to access said weapon whilst trying to fight off another person.
Perhaps more information will come to light.
