Good luck to you Lint. I too have been considering hanging up the helmet - I've had a few close calls on my VFR and reading stories like yours make me feel like I should quit while I'm ahead. I don't ride my VFR nearly as much now that I have my convertible. I have a lot of fun on two wheels but I'm to the point where I usually opt to take my vert over my VFR because I can ride with the wind in my hair and the sun on my face (instead of a helmet on my head) with the stereo playing and a cool drink in the cup holder and the a/c on to keep me cool, all while wearing flip flops and shorts instead of sweat inducing gear. Not to mention the fact that my vert has proven to be an even better pussy magnet than my VFR - the chicks love it! :D Plus I have seat belts and airbags to help keep me and my passenger safe. I had fun recently playing with a Harley guy in my vert on the somewhat curvy beltway at triple digit speeds and not once did I wish I was on two wheels instead of 4 - in fact I kind of felt bad for the Harley guy because he was putting himself at extreme risk (no gear whatsoever!). My vert tops out at a governed 155 so Harley guy was quickly disposed of - LOL. Bottom line is my VFR may be for sale soon because the pros of riding my VFR are being overshadowed by the pros of driving my vert.

Thought it had been quiet for a while. Biking is obviously not in your blood. Enjoy your soft top and stay safe.

Well I took her for a spirited ride on my way home from the gym late last night and rekindled my love for my VFR - so I think I’ll keep her:Music:

I don't even have a car, but I did have a convertible for a while. I liked it also.
I suppose if I had a Jeep again that would be ok because I could take off the top and I could go off-road.
I hate the idea of being traffic, though.

I had a 2008 Jeep Wrangler 2 door soft top for 3 years and even though it was super slow I still loved it. Putting the top all the way down was a pain in the ass compared to a normal convertible but it was pretty easy to just flip back the front part for a giant sunroof effect. I recently test drove a new generation Wrangler (2018?) and I was amazed by the improvement in acceleration compared to my old ‘08 - I think they have an 8 speed auto tranny now so much better gearing to go along with its more powerful V6

Just think. If you got a convertible now, you could cruise down the road with the top down and letting the breezes frolic though your locks of hair. Nothing like that!

That's the way it should be, even though my wife and I are no longer together, after 43 years together, she is still my best friend.

I saw a documentary on German auto makers and for the life of them they had a hard time figuring out why someone would want a drink holder. Their response to the American representatives who were asking them (I think Audi in this case) to put them in their cars was "But your driving, why would you be drinking anything while driving? You should be driving" (Paraphrasing but that was the gist)

The difference between straight roads n twisties, cruising nose to tail on a freeway or blasting down some Bavarian back road.

    Personally I’d rather drive.

I see what you did there. Back handed compliment there. I'll see you next month. Better keep tight grip on the scotch or it might taste like piss.

I will likely bring a few bottles of single malt. They say not to drink the water down there.
My first car was a convertible. That was a beautiful car to drive. But a warning to the northern folk. The temptation is on the first day of spring where the temps allow to run with the top down, everyone tends to hit the highways for hours on end. Only to suffer wind burn far worse than most sunburns you might get.

I really hope Lint finds and answer to this. Also hope he keeps on riding but I can understand the situation he is in with not only himself, but his family too. Important stuff to consider.

I alwasy say consider the family then do whatever the fuck pleases you! JK Randy!
