I will be needing a new chaon and sprockets soon and looking around I see a wide range of prices.

Any suggestions on what to look at or for?

Quality stuff costs more, lasts longer. u can't buy a quality chain for much less than about $140 now.

be sure the chain is made in Japan or Italy or France.

I have bought chains and sprockets from a couple places but have landed and anchored at the Sprocket Center as well and the D.I.D. is my chain of choice. So long and you are not changing the sprocket ratios, they do the math for the make and model of you bike.

While we are here, lets re-open debate. I am a very fond follower of change them all at the same time, chain and both sprockets. Others have a different opinion on that. Of course, they would be wrong though.

And I don't believe in wasting money so I change them as needed. Usually change sprockets every other chain. :chaingun:

I also change sprockets as needed. I can see both sides but usually every other chain works for me.

Look for what came on your bike. They aren't as easy to find as one would think. I think there's a reason Honda put the size they put on it. I don't know what it is but Honda knows more than I do about their motorcycles or anyone else here.

Instead of making a new thread. I'll rehash this. Sprocket center doesn't do much for the 8th gen yet apparently. I never realized either that the older gens were 530, and we're now 525. Fuel efficiency, I guess.

Anywho, I'm probably just going to get this kit from bikebandit unless told otherwise:

    https://www.bikebandit.com/aftermar...-d-x-ring-chain-sprocket-kit/p/43815?m=156360

First time doing a chain on a SSSA. Anything to look out for? Service manual says the rear plastic guard thingy needs new bolts. Why? Doubt I'll do it.

How is the first time removing the front sprocket? I know the Honda oil filter was ridiculous the first time. And first time on the Daytona, the front sprocket required a 5 ft. cheater bar. Only two bikes I've had for more than 20k miles.

EDIT: Just now realizing that kit is 530 pitch. Had to take the calipers to the bike to see if the manual is blatantly wrong. The bike is definitely 525. 5/16" between the two inner plates.

I dunno. Too tired. Will try to figure this out tomorrow.
