https://6abc.com/society/woman-removed-from-flight-over-emotional-support-squirrel/4454723/ I need to hear from Squirrel Man on this. STAT!
thanks for posting ! just utube some pet squirrel videos, and you'll see how sweet, playful, and loving a pet they can be. they can also supply emotional support, so unfortunately the automatic, irrational prejudice against any rodent by ignorant people caused this sad incident. this is what sleeps next to me every night, my blacktail prairie dog, and he knows how to use a pillow and provide emotional support too. btw, he's a member of the 35 million year squirrel family evolution.
We have our share of critters, my cat keeps his eye on Pepe la Pew They are fun to watch, but don't provide any emotional support, that's my cat's job.
Looks like more fun to hang out with than some people I know, lol. A puppy? pfffffft, this little dude would slay the ladies.
almost all house-squirrels were found as babies somehow separated from their moms, then brought up around people. after they become bonded, they love interacting and playing with their rescuers. i've captured a couple of adult squirrels for pets, but they usually don't work out very well. i've found that ground squirrels like my prairie dog are easiest to tame and adapt better to home life.
The squirrels here near my work and in my neighborhood seem way more tame than I am used to. It could be that I am from Missouri where there is always a threat of being eaten. The ones here are pretty fun to watch and I often wonder what is going on in their head.
