My career path was not good for my health. I don't do such things that break my bones anymore. My mind is kinda like bird's nest soup sometimes though. But if I filter out all that stringy stuff I am left with broth. A clear picture so to say.

Well Randy by your strict definition I may hold the title. I have laid a bunch of different dirt bikes on their sides probably hundreds of times. And I have tossed CBR 1000 track bikes down the track too.

That very well may be. We aren't counting Scubalong's quests to the off road arena. Nice thing about starting this type of thread. I get to decide one way or tother. I command more power than Tonny Dump! And my pekker, I mean button is bigger than his.

I think we need a sub category here. Sober vs. Sober then drank to much at the last bar.
    Sober -0
Sober until the bar and dropped it getting it off the center stand - 1
Sober and late for work and forgot about the caliper lock -1

    Total cost over 34yrs= $1200
I must be riding like a little girl!;-)

Time for me to step up to the plate again. Was riding in Baja with Reg and TC. They were on adventure bikes and me on my VFR. Reg's Google Maps suggested a road that would shave about 1 1/2 hours off our trip to that night's destination. It was a gravel road but no matter. I have ridden a fair amount of gravel on logging roads around home and don't mind them.

So away we go. This road was quite sand covered over part pack so there was some fishtailing and slipping and sliding. Again no problem. Loosen up the grip and go with the flow. It got worse. The road developed into miles of washboard. Still, find the sweet speed and keep going. It got worse. Now there are ruts. I was managing not too bad. Stay on top of the ruts or in the bottom of the ruts and all was good. Try to ride any of the sides, and the sand would cause my road tires to slip too bad and that was scary. It got worse. Ruts turn into deep ruts then into canyons in my view.

By this time TC had gotten well ahead of us. We did not see him for a couple hours later I think. Reg got about 1/2mile ahead of me too. I just had to slow down. Was coming around a right hand bend in the road and came across boulder outcroppings in the road where the gravel between and worn away, A few of them I think. Anyway, they were sudden and too high for my suspension to handle Down I went. I can remember thinking as I go down, I am not getting out of this one easy.

I stayed on the seat of the bike going down, and the bike landed on top of me again. Why does that always happen? I lay there taking stock of my self. Actually did not feel that bad I was able to pull my right foot out from under the bike and step down on it. Oh my fucking oath that hurt! I guess my previous self assessment was not quite so accurate. But fortunately Reg had stopped at another knoll in the road about 1/2 mile ahead of me and saw I had gone down. I was able to stand up and wave at him to come back. He and I were able to right the bike, and I was able to ride it away and even further on for about 1 1/2 weeks until we got back to Sacramento and we loaded it up for my drive back to Canada

Damage to bike was a cracked front cowl, and I find out back at home, the pipes were crushed a bit beneath the bike. Also the bolt holes on the front fender became very cracked to the point pieces of the plastic were falling off. I think it was the constant washboard road that did that though. But the fender was still attached to the bike very firm

Damage to me? Pride. We thought the foot was sprained so I was able to ride for several days after this. But once I got home, and the ankle x-rayed, ankle is fractured. Today is my first day without the air cast. Praise almighty Mr. Honda, I can drive/ride again.

So that makes 11 for me.

I guess I've been lucky (or overly cautious) over the years.

    - Would have dropped my FJ1100 a number of years back, trying to ride it up a ramp on to a trailer. Didn't give it enough, it was about to stall, and I had nowhere to put my feet, so jumped off. Luckily, I had a strong mate there to grab it and hold it it upright on the ramp, and we proceeded to walk it up the ramp on to the trailer (like we should have done in the 1st place).

    - Dropped an FZR1000 a few years later. Literally, got off it and forgot to put the side stand down. Once it got to "that" point...well, suffice to say, the RHS footpeg gave my right leg a nice reminder to, in future, deploy the side stand AND CHECK, before resting the bike.

    - Had a "partial drop" of my earlier 5th Gen some years back, in the garage. Would have been a "full" drop, but we had a large chest freezer in the garage at the time, and the LHS clip-on literally rested up against the side of the freezer.

That's pretty much it. In ~30 years of riding.

As I said, lucky, or overly cautious (or both).

    Take care out there.

I can only guess, maybe 15 times spread over 4 bikes. 1 was a dual purpose so I dropped it trail riding maybe 5 times? Hawk GT I ridden for 27 years and have dropped it maybe 7 or 8 times. I dropped my wife's TU250 once taking it off the rear stand and forgetting to put the side stand down first. My VFR I just dropped last weekend when the aftermarket side stand I put on it broke the 2nd time I used it.

Got a little too far right trying to slide past the RVs exiting Laguna Seca one year, rode the VFR down into the ditch and fell over.
Other times have tried to put bike on sidestand that was not down all the way, foot slipped on dirt in a parking lot and fell down, forgot to remove disk lock and doh. Tried to put foot down and ground was too far away, used front brake on a downhill in the dirt, spun the back wheel making a right on red, and down we go. Locked the front and did my Superman impression over the bars. That was the only time I hurt myself enough to go to the doctor, with an MC. Twice I have hurt myself enough to go to the doctor, with a bicycle. Those things are dangerous.

Knock wood, I have never taken an ambulance ride. One time I got hurt at work and they called for an ambulance, but a paddy wagon came and I rode in back of that.

Man, you got that right about bicycles. My worst one was leaving at the beginning of the MS150 ride in Kansas City about 1992. I was sprinting after my buddies on a tandem just in front of me, and doing a touch over 25 mph when I hit something, don't know what to this day, which tacoed my front wheel and put me immediately over the bars and onto the ground. I hit hard enough it scratched the glasses I was wearing, they didn't come off, and ripped a chunk out of my mustache. It happened so fast I didn't have a chance to try and catch myself on the way to the ground, which is probably why I didn't come out of it with a broken collarbone. But nothing broken, just lots of road rash, ripped jersey and shorts, and a couple of tacoed wheels: front and rear. Walked back to the start line, loaded my bike, got in my car, and went home.

Never been down on a road motorcycle at anything over a walk.

That's only a sampling. Several others come readily to mind, but I always managed to get up and ride away.:usa:

Egg on face is generally better than break on leg.

Probably not the best place to ask but what make of aftermarket side stand failed? Do you have any photos showing how the item failed? This may be of interest to others on here who may already own the same item or indeed may want to avoid buying the same item?

Cheap ebay item. I already tossed it. It has a threaded adjustment on the foot end. The threaded part pulled right out of the top part. Picture here looks like the one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Adj...h=item23ab732d80:g:ETIAAOSwtAlbsGhG:rk:6:pf:0

So, if one wanted to get one of these, make the adjustment to the optimal length, and weld it together, that might work? Just curious....

I don't think so. Bottom threaded part is steel. Upper part is aluminum alloy.
