Hi All, I just bought a trashed 1990 VFR750 for not much money, but it clearly gonna cost me HEAPS to get back to pristine condition...…..
Im a serial bike collector, with a 1971 Jap market CB750, XS1 Yamaha 650 twin, 1971 Triumph Trident, 1973 Yamaha Dt360, 1971 Triumph Bonneville, 1971 Kawasaki H1 triple, BMW R1200ST and a few Ive probably forgotten.....
But with that being said just looking at this bike is enough to make me question my sanity- matt black painted everything- wheels, frame, electrical, seat even, tank, bars, instruments [but prior owner did mask the faces at least], cut off and missing muffler, 82,000 km….
ALL the body work is missing and its been 'graced' with a lousy fitting Corbin seat.
Well of course I have a ton of questions, such as what bodywork is common to this model? Ive seen the Alibaba China ads for complete body kits and they sure look attractive, both price and quality-wise [even being from China], and Id like to find a stock seat....
So with all that being said, can someone help me to identify how I can find out what model parts [such as seats and fairing pieces] were common to which models that will fit my Canadian market VFR750 please?
    Thanks
    Al in Canada, eh

    Hello and welcome Al!

It looks like you have your work cut out for you! You seem to be aware that you are not able to order most (all?) old stock parts for your 1990 viffer. Your best bet would be to look for other bikes to salvage parts from. Be sure to post up in the 3rd gen forum to be able to get the more visibility for your questions.

    Cheers,

thanks, Ive lots to learn, so that's a good start. Given that I have a pile of old bikes, parts sourcing isn't new to me, but this one may even test my patience.

Welcome oz-slider. If you get a chance to post up a photo or two of your project bike, it will make my day! Would also like to see the whole fleet.
