It's done!! From an email I just got. I haven't even read it yet:

I'm letting you know that as of today we are releasing our BD40 series shocks to the public! This is an exciting day for us here at DMr. I hope you are still interested in a suspension upgrade for your VFR, if so please let me know and I can get you the details on how to order.

In the meantime I've attached a couple of pictures so you can see what the final product looks like. What is shown here will have a list price of $675. I am offering them at an introductory price of $625 from now until the end of the year. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Has anyone here bought one of these shocks yet? I’m thinking about one for my ‘01, my rear shock is toast.

Am I gonna be the first?

If you pull the trigger on it, I believe you'll be the first or did you really mean "fist"?

Do it and let us know, if I was in the market for a new shock, I'd do it but considering I already have a Penske (serviced/updated by DMr) I've no need at the moment.

I have one in hand, it is a beautiful piece. I am in VT and my wrenching and riding season hasn't quite begun yet. The shock is still sitting on the bench waiting to be installed. I'll happily report back in a few months once I've got it installed and put some miles on it. At present there is about 5ft of snow piled up in front of the doors to the bike barn.

    Very nice!

Where are we expected to mount that remote reservoir? There isn’t a lot of space around the rear of these bikes.

I know what you mean about “wrenching season”. I don’t have so much of a snow problem here, but my garage has been so cold lately it’s been hard to do much wrenching.

Not sure on the rez mount, but I'll make sure to post some pics and details of the install in my 'refurb' thread on VFRD once I can get out into the garage and get some work done. https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index.php?/forums/topic/87690-adkfinns-5th-gen-20yr-refresh/

I also own one of these lovely pieces of bike bling from Mr. Daugherty; I’m looking forward to installing it this spring when my bike comes out of its enforced hibernation. Report to follow!

I am installed front and rear, and went for my first ride today, which was more or less 20 miles riding around the horrible Seattle roads. I don't want to say too much until I have had an opportunity to dial both the front and back in correctly, however initial impressions are positive.

More this weekend, including mounting pics.

Finally got around to fitting the rear shock last night. Digging into the forks tonight. I'll report back after I get the bike out on the road, planning on at least a couple hundred miles this weekend if I don't run into any install issues. Jamie's rear shock is such a nice piece, I can't wait to see how it performs.

If anyone has mounted a remote reservoir on a 5th gen I'd love to see some pics or hear how you mounted it. I toyed around with a few ideas last night but need to reinstall the body work and make some final decisions.

Update - 500 or so miles on my full DMr setup front and rear. It is amazing, truly transforms the bike from stock (especially for 200+lb riders like me I would guess). Install was seamless, Jamie's setup based on the info I sent in feels great. The bike is so settled at lean compared to before, it is uncanny. For me, the differences are so drastic I feel like I am re-learning how to ride this bike because it's behavior is so improved. No more brake dive, no more wallowing and shifting in corners... it is just settled, stable, and predictable. I am looking forward to riding it more and fully dialing it in.

Here is what I came up with for a reservoir mount and location (edit - sorry the first one is upside down):

My DMr front and rear arrived as well. I'm home for a few days and got the shock installed today. Install was easy even with stock cat. A couple notes tho. The aluminum spacers for the top clevis needed the be shaved as it was too wide. Given the glevis didn't look perf straight no fault to DMr. I sanded 1.5mm off the OUTSIDE of the spacers so not to effect the crush on the poly bushes.

The other issues was the lower end link is adjusted so that the shock overall lenght was about 5mm longer than the stock shock. Likely for a 5th gen. For the time being I'm leaving it long as a noticed quicker but not erratic steering.

Overall, my impression is it's a well balanced shock but be prepared to adjust accordingly. Spring is a little tight but I've lost weight, my bad. Can't wait to do the fork kit but that will have to wait till next home time in the spring. Best all.

Well, suprise! Had today to do the forks. Could not have been easier, little over 2 hrs. Really should have done the forks first as they resulted in a HUGE difference. Still making adjustments front and rear but it's a nicely balanced system. Just need to find or make a spanner for the shock spring collar.
