Do you consider riding a motorcycle some kind of battle? Better to ride a car if that is the case.

I recall seeing somewhere, maybe the link to a news source, that the SEG rider perceived that Toyota as some threat to the motorcade carrying Prince Harry and drove his bike straight at the car. If you look at the damage, he certainly could not have hit a better spot to take out the driver of that Toyota a well as disabling the car. I don't know if that was deliberate or coincidental though.

How you arrived at that scenario I don't know, but we all percieve things differently.

    My bad

I went back to see where I got that idea from and it came from Samuels posted link on the second post here. It related to a collision between the SEG from Prince Harry's motorcade and a car. On re-read of that, it was the driver of Harry's car that perceived a terrorist thread and sped away. Looking at the video attached to that story, it appears to be very accidental.

As a form of punishment, later today when it is time for my daily dram, I will have plain 12 year old Highland park instead of my usual 18 year old.

Funny that you mention such an important part of the conversation: the partaking of a wee dram. I myself am indeed sipping the blood of Zeus, or the fine water, the good stuff!! I shall finish the bottle and not be stretching a leg over the VFR beast today. I think the accident was avoidable but because of the speed being used it was not avoidable. They are brave men who ride for the benefit of others, sometimes less deserving plants. Enjoy your tipple. I'm slowly getting pissed.

You must understand that right now, it is 08:17 hrs. where I live. Hell, it is almost as close to fly west to your place as it is to fly east. Alright. A little bit of a reach, but when I flew over there years ago, my flight took me over James Bay which is very far north of what one may expect the flight to take.

I can handle the nip this early but others may think I have a drinking problem. I will tell them I am enjoying a sip of the finer beverage with you.

In my more than 25 years of investigating traffic collisions, I have never come across one that could not have been prevented by actions of at least one of the parties involved, or a party that caused one driver to take evasive actions and resulted in the collision with a third party. In other words, all collisions can be prevented unless there is an act of mother nature that is a contributing factor. Snow ice and rain does not cut it though. Lightning does though. Get hit by that stuff and it is a real bitch. I know this.

It would be a pleasure to have a nip with you, regardless of the time. As I type it is now 1705 in Britain, though I live in Wales, the land of the Dragons and king Arthur, and of course Merlin, the Man of Men.

Neg, I don't view riding as a battle. Maybe I should have clarified that quote by Sun Tzu wasn't supposed to be an exact analogy or truism. The point was that you can't control other drivers/vehicles - and from another occasional lecture, "people are HUA all around you", sometimes they're Aholes on the road, and sometimes shit just happens...

If you have ever driven an emergency vehicle, then no act, however moronic, would surprise you

A somewhat tangential corollary is that just when you think you've seen it all, something will come along or happen and make you say WTF?! out loud... :D

And on an open mic so it is broadcast throughout the county. I've never done that but I did have to inform my detachment commander one time that he did. What a laugh that was! And he really went on and on.

A lesson learned by him. Hang the fukken mic on the mic holder instead of throwing it down on the seat beside you where you can accidently open the mic.
