Hi Guys, I have a Vfr800 2000 and I didn't start it since last summer. I tried today and my Battery was fully charged and everything seems perfect but no response from the fuel pump, the motorcycle won't start. What should I do first to adress this problem. Thank you.

    Hi Kan'ichirō

I had this happen to my 5th gen just a couple of days ago. It had been standing unused, too.

The first thing I checked was the fuse box. The fuses were ok, so I pulled apart the rubber-covered block-connector just beneath the rear of the fuel tank to check for corrosion on the spades. This is where I found the fault. One of the (female) spades had corroded badly, and it literally fell apart when the block-connector was opened.

To fix it, I simply pushed the corroded spade out of the block-connector and replaced it with a new one (..having soldered it to the end of the wire first). The fuel-pump then primed immediately, and the bike started first press of the button. Maybe yours has the same issue?

    Steve

Another quick and easy check and is quite often a face palm moment, the kill switch. You’d be surprised how many have fallen victim to this.

Thanks for your time. I'll go check this out right away and see what's up. I'll be back when it's done.

Thanks, is there a possibility that it's the kill switch even if it's not engaged and the lights work and the motor turn? Everything look like it's going to start it's just the fuel pump that makes no sounds.

You can try and toggling it back and forth just in case it’s not making good contact.

Finally, I had a bad connection on the fuel pump connectors. Thanks again.
