That's about as good of mileage I ever got on my 2008 Ninja 250r, LOL! That was of course due to all the re-jetting attempts that eventually killed it prematurely. Taught me to leave well enough alone for my next bike (CBR500r).

Actually some of us do care about the mileage. I use my motorcycle for more than a toy, it's also transportation,
and when I can get better mileage out of a bone stock automobile that makes more horsepower and weighs about
8 times as much, then I'm not as happy as I could be.

FWIW my '99 gets around 45 mpg at highway (70-75mph) speeds. I'm fairly happy with that.

Mileage is a side benefit of having a motor vehicle the weighs more than it should but delights us while on it. I get around the 41-43mph mile mark and some say using True gas benefits as well but still not confirmed. Tire pressure, tire compound etc. are factors. If you commute then you should get around a Hybrid car mileage at 45 mpg on the 8th gen. If you are using the bike for sport then less obviously. My car gets 28 mph and our bikes get 40+ the only reason that I care about mileage is when I am in or going on a long ride trying to make sure I have stops to gas up with. With gas now at $3.19 for 88 with 10% ethanol and True gas at $3.49 a gallon in Utah it is like looking at your heating bill and your gas bill. But, I ride the bike to enjoy myself and the cost is not a concern if I control other day to day costs to allow myself the bike. Hell, the reason that I bought the bike was the price of it and the insurance vs. the Ninja1000. $5,000 less in the purchase and $115 a month less insurance. Over the last three years with the VFR I have saved $2,880 a year. I am good with that hell I could take at least 3 long rides a year to equal the savings. Or payed off a credit card, bought new furniture or put into savings.

I get 34 in town and 43mpg on the highway in my Honda Civic. Heck with a motorcycle for transportation and fuel mileage. I didn't pay much more for the Civic than I did for the VFR. The VFR can be more fun though.

Sorry, but when I was young and riding a lot, there were choices that had to be made: car or motorcycle.
No budget for a $3000 vehicle that you couldn't use for transportation.

True life is stranger than fiction, when I was in NJ many year ago, I was waiting at a traffic light at night in a small town, low and behold a gen3 bike pulls next up next to me with a his riding buddy, before the light turned green, he asked me if I was interested in a corbin seat for my bike, I said, "sure." He lived a few towns over from me and I bought it for a nominal price that night.

I rode with that seat for 30,000 miles maybe? When I moved down to South FL, I ended up selling it on line and went back to the excellent stock seat. That is what I have been running with for another 50,000 miles. Its higher, does not put you into a bucket where your trapped. The stock seat lets slide around and move your bum. Anyway, my experience with Sargent was when I got my pearl white gen3 bike, it had a ripped seat cover and I was in the need of a new seat cover. Long story short, I dealt with Sargent and was and am, happier than a pig in poop. Gota go, three year old wants banana pancakes. :mech:

He said pig in poop! I love banana pancakes but have to make my own if I want them. Nothing beats scratch pancakes.

I rode with a Sargent for several years and really did not notice a huge difference from the stock in my case. But that one started t wear and I took the seat and had a custom seat crafted for me at Rich's Custom Upholstery. I watched an he built that seat. Gluing slivers of foam into place, having me ride a few blocks and repeating the process until it was perfect. No that made a big difference. It was not cheap, but if you can swing it, it is worth the money. I am sure there are many other upholstery shops around the country that are good at custom fitting as well.

I know this thread is no longer relevant, but it’s hilarious how many people tried to convince the OP that his motorcycle wasn’t uncomfortable.

It's hilarious how the OP couldn't get comfortable on one of the most comfortable ST bikes ever made.

A couple of the things the VFR can't do are prevent old age and cure arthritis.
