    I found some stuff on a 60k Gen 6 I just purchased.

The suspension has a good amount of vertical play and It's making a click sound. You can put the bike on the center stand and lift the rear wheel up and down. Looks like play between the bolts and the heim joint. Like someone put it back together without spacers. The bolt is now bent also. Can someone shed some light on this? Typical? or...? How should I fix this? Is this a good time to swap in a newer shock? I've seen some stuff with 949 and ZX bike swap.

    Some photos:

Bellow is the bent bolt. And the heim jont's on both ends of that adjustable section have play around the bolt.

I also found a bunch of other junk.
Here is a plug I pulled out. all four looked that awesome.

Mix & Match hardware, missing fasteners. I found some wiring that leads to nowhere and random disconnected hoses. Bellow is the crazy garbage air-box.

What should I do about the rear suspension linkage problems? Jack-Up kit w/ a newer sport bike shock? or Do I just need new bolts and some type of bushing for between the bolt and the heim joint?

What would you do with this?

I'm tall. 6' 1" with a 32" inseam. I don't need the low seat. What about the play between the bolt and the eyelet on the heim? Someone just did a shit job? Can I repair what I have vs waiting for parts?

To add to what RllwJoe said, we had a member on the forum that had one of those links on her bike and it broke while she was on the freeway! Happened on a Thanksgiving weekend too! I would definitely recommend returning it to stock condition, most likely find this on eBay if you can’t find it new or don’t want to pay Honda prices.

Snapped on the freeway, you say? Sounds amazing. I can get everything I need from Honda for about 90$ to change it back to stock and replace the bent bolt.

    I smurf'd round Flea-Bay.

    1) Found the parts required for returning to stock linkage @ 28$.
    2) Also learned the CBR 1100XX rear shock is a direct swap w/ a stiffer spring and 3-5mm increase in length @ 49$.

Thanks for all the insight to those to contributed.

Stock is the way that I would go too.
Re: Spark plug, if it were me (and three years ago it was) I would replace them with new.

I always do maintenance on ANY used vehicle, Every time. It's a great way to inspect for hidden problems and get a general feel for how the vehicle was treated before you purchased it. This bike needed new grips and bar ends, sticker removal, oil/filter, new plugs, chain clean and lube, two new tires, fan thermal switch. I found all the suspension stuff and the garbage air box when I did the rear set of plugs.

I'm getting poor gas millage. I commute, mostly highway about 34 miles each way to work. about 31 mpg, even with the new plugs and fresh chain lube. I can smell fresh fuel on occasion also. I think I have a leak. I have some random detached tubes under the tank. I'm going to mess with it today after work.

I was looking at my forks, I think someone lowered the front of the bike also.

I'm going to leave it alone for now. I'm going to swap in the stock link, the blackhawk rear shock and see how it rides before I adjust the forks.
