Have recently acquired a 4th Gen VFR and it has VFRness installed on it. Along with a bigger and heavier R/R with fins.

Very initial charging voltage after starting it at low and high rpms is between 17-18V and then drop down to 14-15V, I took it out for a ride today and was able to see battery was being cooked and was bulging up, along with an acid smell :(

Could anyone please look at below pictures to see if connections are good and in right order? Thanks for the help and advice :)

Park the bike immediately. Your R/R is toast. Chances are it took out the battery too.
You need to update with a current tech R/R --- either the FH020aa or the SH847aa - the later is a tough mount up.
Do a direct wire up to the battery as per current art. The VFRness wont be needed.

It has the aftermarket R/R and bigger fins, not really sure if any connection is being messed up and causing higher voltage?

Or it surely could be the R/R?

Overvoltage is definately an R/R issue.....bad luck, but will need to be replaced..

Whats the mileage on your bike?
