My electrical system started blinking in and out and went out now it won't come on at all. What can it be that's causing the problem.?

    Welcome to VFRWorld Freddy G.
It may help us to know more about your bike. What model, year, how many miles, how long have you owned it, what do you know of the past maintenence, any recent added accessories or repairs? Have you had the battery load tested? Or do you at least know what the resting voltage is?

When you have a moment go to the Introductions forum and in a new post tell us about yourself and your V4. Post up a few photos also.

This is a great group of individuals who are willing to share their experence and knowlege to help a fellow rider out.

We'll forgive you being an Alabama fan if you tell us more about the bike (year, model, etc.). There are several issues that behave just like this that can be readily diagnosed...

Hi Freddy welcome to the MadHouse:Welcome:

Whilst brevity is admired on many forums, when it comes to offering problem solving advice to someone the other side of the Atlantic - it really does help enormously to know as much as possible about your VFR and ideally any pertinent history, so we can offer appropriate advice.

At this stage it is pretty much impossible to offer any advice, however electrical system Gremlins are known to affect some VFR models.

Your mention of blinking lights could however be linked to a fault code with your VFR. In the event of faults with the fuel injection and ABS systems more recent VFRs utilise the lights on the dash to communicate MIL(Malfunction Indicator Lights) codes. Again you are seeing this stuff - we are not - so if it helps convey the problem it might be worth taking a quick video with a camera phone and then uploading to YouTube, then just post a link on here so we can see whatever is going on too.

If you need to upload photos on this forum it is very easy. Just click on the "Upload a file" tab and follow the prompts to select and upload photos from your computer.

Take care - let us know how you get on.

Based on my sorry experience your voltage regulator may have fried the battery and in the process, done damage to the ignition system. Be very suspicious. If you can get the bike to run, test the voltage put out by the regulator. Even if you find it's OK, but it can be erratic. Sneaky, those Honda electrics.
