VFR800 intermitent rattle/chain rattle

    Yes, you should be able to start the bike in gear with the sidestand down and the clutch lever pulled in.
    If not it's either the clutch lever switch, or the sidestand switch. Just connect the two wires at the clutch
    lever switch to each other and the bike should try to start in gear with the sidestand down regardless of
    whether the clutch lever is pulled. That would tell you whether it's the clutch lever switch or the sidestand switch.

    You should actually be able to hear the clutch lever switch working when you pull the clutch lever in. You should
    be able to hear the clutch clicking. No clickee, no workee.

    Ive tested the clutch switch at the lever and it wasnt working ive cleaned it up and just parked up running the bike the noise has stopped just getting a new back tyre fitted and will take the bike out tomorrow, if nothing has change il try plugging the hose.
    And thank you darth vader, shes been knocked about abit by the previous owner but im slowly getting her looking good again

    Thanks for every ones help since ive cleaned the clutch switch and disconnect the valve thing on the air box the noise has completly stopped.
