Recently sold my '86 vfr700, but kept the Yoshi pipe that came with it. I cut off the 4-into-1 section and had a buddy weld up a link pipe to mount it to stock 2105 muffler connections. It looked and sounded great, but just a hair too long for my taste, so then I chopped 3" off it. Video links to follow...

Looking forward to the video links.

Did you have to make any adjustment to the baffle? It's been on my mind to cut a 12" delkevic pipe, but I'll love to take off a whole lot more than 3" so that the wheel is very visible. My only worry has been how the baffle will fit. Any thoughts?

If the baffle is the mesh like pipe in the center of the muffler that’s surrounded by packing, I just cut straight through it and left it as-is. It probably makes the exhaust louder than it would be otherwise, but I didn’t really know what else to do. It wasn’t press-fit or welded into the end cap at all. My advice would be to start with cutting a smaller amount first, reassembling, and checking the sound first. I’m happy with the look, but it would have sounded a little more subtle maybe only taking 1.5-2” off. It’s pretty damn loud.

Yes, that's it. I'll think about it some more while I find someone who can do the cutting

Mad Doc be careful. You live in Utah and Law enforcement does not like loud sport bikes. They tolerate Harley straight pipes because they own one. ;-) You know how loud mine is with the baffle in. Did you buy the same pipe as I have?

Mad Doc, You must have a 14 inch. I do not see a 12" slip on at the site. Did you buy the 8" Shorty that I bought? I would be curious to find out which model you bought. Let me know. Thanks

Thanks for this info. Maybe this is the voice of reason.

I haven't bought any yet. I met a guy in the area who told me he had a 12" delkevic pipe that would sound nice on my bike. Maybe he had the length wrong. I don't like the long pipes that's why I'm thinking of cutting it. It's cheaper too, and you know I love cheap things:Yo:

Hey Doc you also need to know if it will work on the bike. More than likely you will have to customize it. You may be better off saving up and pulling the trigger on a new one when you can. All of the generations of our bike do not retro fit. Be aware of what you may be buying. Just another bit of advise. Take Care.

Finally got around to taking a couple clips. Cold start in the garage, followed by a quick run down the street. Sounds most accurate on a Bluetooth speaker or in the car where some bass can be heard.
