    Ok bike started blowing fuses.
Realized it wouldn't blow if I didn't use turn signals, so got it home then started trying to trouble shoot.
Hazards work fine. All four blink as they should.
Right turn signal, right front blinks, right rear solid, sometimes blows ten amp fuse.
Left turn signal immediately blows 10a fuse. Tested with 20a, left front blinks, left rear solid. But dim.

Checked the ground across the blue connecter, and it's fine. Checked ground from lights, it's fine. Tested wires to bulbs, couldn't (I'm sure I missed something in the path though) but all seemed good.
So I'm guessing it's the turn signal position relay, part 006 under the cowl sector in the manual.
    Only problem,

So the relay I need is discontinued, but everywhere I call just thinks it's back ordered. So they have no idea of a replacement part number. Anyone know the replacement, or have a wire pinout for that relay and I'll redneck something up with a cheaper relay?[IMG]

i don't see why a bad relay would blow that fuse...................? Stock or aftermarket signals ? could be a problem with t.s. wiring. something is grounding that shouldn't

It was the turn signal position relay.
    Which is that discontinued part.
Measuring the resistance going to the left outputs on it
    Stock signals and wiring.
    Wires all test fine.
Output going to left front from that positional relay had really high resistance compared to almost zero for other outputs.
I gave up on yellow running lights in the front, and bypassed that relay using a 3$ flasher relay from advance Auto and it works fine now

No worries. Seemed odd to me too, and I really was expecting a wire to have worn through. I do wish I could find a way to have the front yellow lights still work as running lights, but oh well.

Pardon my ignorance but is the blinker relay involved in the running lights? I thought that was completely done within the turn signal switch on the bar, as that is where the extra wires originate (the light blue with white stripe R/orange with white stripe L). When you activate the left blinker it cuts the left running light power within the switch as seen in the diagram below.

In my experience you can use any 12v blinker relay, I've certainly just swapped out the stocker for an LED-specific relay when I've fitted LED's to my bikes (99 VFR, 97 VTR, 90 ST11) . You don't need to use a 3-pin blinker, 2-pin is fine (the third is a neutral so not functionally essential). Like this: https://www.customled.com/products/elfr-1-electronic-led-flasher-relay

    So on the 06,
There is a "turn signal position relay"
This relay has 7 pins, but 6 are used.
    Pin 1 12v hot.
Pin 2 wired through turn signal switch to dash indicator then rear signal (left, right or off depending on switch)
Pin 3 front right running light
Pin 4 left front running light.
    Pin 5 rear right light
    Pin 6 rear left light.

I put the Thermo flasher relay thing inline on pin 2. Then wired 3-5 and 4-6. It works. Hazards are a separate circuit anyway so those still work.

I think you just demonstrated my ignorance level of the 06 model. The service manual I had was for 03.

I have an '08, and am upgrading to an LED relay, but replacing the one identified in the '02 manual does nothing. I am trying to fix the hyper-flash issue, and when I replaced what is "supposed" to be the turn signal relay, the issue stays the same. Just for troubleshooting, I removed the relay in question altogether, and the turn signals still worked, so that clearly isn't the turn signal relay. [IMG] Where is the turn signal relay located now?

I have an 08 and have yet to figure out where the position light power is coming from. Trying to use switchbacks but even with a switched lead it doesn't work cause there's a low volt signsl for position on a 2 wire (7440) lead. IS THIS WIRED TRHU THE SWITCH????. If i can find and disable that my life would be happy.
