I'm looking at buying a 2010 VFR1200F. It has 5K miles and the dealer has it listed for $6,999 +tax/etc.

I'll admit...I know nothing about any of the VFR's. I've been riding for 10 years, I've got a few other bikes. But the bikes I do have, are ones that I don't really like putting a ton of miles on. My commute is 60 miles a day and I'm very tired of chain maintenance, so I'm looking for something that is comfortable and I can pile a ton of miles on and will be reliable. A shaft driven Honda seems like it could fit that description. But I don't know much about these bikes.

I happened to notice this bike at a dealership that is across the street from my work. It's in beautiful perfect visible condition. According to my friend that works at the dealership...the owner bought the bike, put 5k miles on it...then let it sit in the garage for years and years...then recently brought it in to have a bunch of maintenance done on it because he wanted to start riding it again...I guess after all that work, he decided he wanted to sell it instead. So now it's sitting in the dealers used section.

What do y'all think? I would say I'm close to pulling the trigger on this one...but I say that about half the bikes I see hahaha.

I'd do it if the dealer throws new tires into the deal (at no extra cost).

Ah, that's an excellent point. I hadn't thought of that; If the story is true about the owner letting it sit, that means these are probably the stock tires.

Same as with cars that are no longer in production (if you're serious about the model): "buy the best example you can find"

You won't regret it. V-4 engines are special.

I'm a huge fan of pretty much anything that isn't an inline 4 lol. My main bike is a 1290 SuperDuke...My first bike was a parallel twin, my previous bike was a Triumph Daytona 675 (triple). The bike I'm commuting on now is a single. At this point, I don't think I'll ever own an inline 4

Hows maintenance on these bikes? A facebook friend of mine was saying that maintenance tends to be expensive as well as OEM parts. He said the parts are expensive because this bike had a limited production run.

Is this true? My main goal here is to have an inexpensive bike that I can pile 10's of thousands of miles on without a worry and minimal cost.
