Hey all, just picked up a red 99 viffer with 43k on the odo. It's looking about time to do the rotors. However, new OEM rotors would put me at a third of what I paid for the bike. Does anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket disks? I found some generic ones on fleabay, 150 for the pair, but do any of you have any experience with them? It's the combined braking system, does that make a difference?

Hell, anyone with new or used rotors for sale?

    Thanks!

Ive just fitted some chinese rotors and have to say im very pleased with them. I delinked using vtr1000 firestorm/superhawk legs, calipers and m/c and am using ebc sintered pads. Ive only put a thousand miles on the but the combination works really well. People say some really negative things about chinese stuff so im keeping a close eye on them for cracking etc but so far so good

Do you have a link to where you bought yours? Do I need to do the Relinking to make them work? I'd prefer to leave this as stock as possible. Thanks!

Yup, I had the same issue with OEM discs (rotors). I also read a load of negative stuff about cheap ones, and in the end I bit the bullet and bought EBC ones at vast cost.

Just got them off ebay for £130 the pair. Stock set up would work with them id imagine i only delinked because of the stock bleeding processes.

I'm going to be the arse here, and tell you what most are thinking.
Brakes, tires and chains are some of the most critical parts. Bad oil will kill your bike. Bad brakes will kill you.

Buy the best for the intended use. Obviously, you don't need race brakes and tires for normal riding, but you do need high quality parts.
You should be able to trust that no matter how hard you push things, your brakes will always work 100% as they should.

It's like those morons who are too cheap to put winter tires on their car, and end up causing an accident.

I'll soon be having an extra pair of original front rotors I could sell which have 4.0mm thickness (half way between new 4.5 and wear limit of 3.5) but I have no idea how much shipping from Finland would be. I bet you could find used originals closer to your location. Personally I'd rather go with used originals than cheap Chinese.
