Had something weird happen while I was shifting gears

    I Chris I am new hear just got a 1992 Honda vfr 750 about 3 weeks ago bike is in excellent shape. But I was driving the bike and I up shift I thought I was in 5 but I was already in 6th but it shifted up but it was lke a netrual motor kept running I just slowly downshifted I have not had any problems at all with the bike after that happend. Question I have is it something I need to worry about

    On my old vfr I used to get a ghost shift between 5th and 6th was like it was in neutral , I changed the oil for Mobil 1 super 2000 and it went hope this helps , ps it’s nothing to worry about

    Probably nothing, happens to me when I try to shift too agressively and don't push the shifting pedal all the way to the stop.
    Make sure you're not running some oil with friction reducers. These are common in cars nowadays, but on a motorbike where the oil is shared with the clutch it'll create unnecessary clutch slippage

    Sounds like you got a false neutral, just need to shift positively. Nothing to worry about.
