We have a new member of our family that arrived yesterday. A 6th Gen 2009 VFR800 54k kilometers in need of some love.............badly.

On the back of the post from yesterday, about how strange life is.

    https://vfrworld.com/threads/what-a-strange-day.57744/

We got a new bike and we got the bike home, but not without some dramas, the bike overheated about 20 min after having it when we were sitting in a traffic jam because of an accident.

We knew the bike was low-sided at some point, the owner before the guy we bought it from had an opppsy.

What we found when it overheated was that he never bothered to fix the radiator fan, it was seized ffs.

We stopped the bike immediately after it got to 125c and pulled into a 4 square dairy and found this problem, no way to fix it here. We were lucky to be out of the traffic and riding at normal speeds was fine to get it home.

Pics below, its a horrible kit from Ali-express, repainted and it has a plastic tank cover hiding a big dent in the tank. Thank god the wife is a automotive spray painter and has access to high quality Panel beaters.

The bike is a mishmash of broken parts, crap replacements, half assed "fixes" and just shoddy workmanship.

But luckily the bike mechanically is sound. We can rebuild it. We are going to paint it a white 3 layer pearl two tone once we got replacement panels.

It does have twin scorpions and custom made bar risers which work surprisingly well.

Congrats! By the way, not having the standard OEM shock isn't necessarily a bad thing . . .

Pearl white eh? That alone will give you another 10 HP and much more zip. Nothing quite feels like the might of white.

Wow. They underneath of your bike looks like it has gone through hell from what I can see on the third photo. Mine is not pretty with the wear from over 220k km but it does not seem to look that bad.

I was gong to do some panel work and repaint mine this winter after and adventurous ride in Mexico but decided I would wait until next winter to get it painted. I need a new or replacement front upper fairing. I have a used fairing that is red and in not too bad shape I may use, but I also may just order a new white one. This will be the second time I have painted it. I am looking forward to that. This time it will be left white without the graphics.

    Good luck on your project.
