AS we enter 2020 and look forward to a good year to come while reflecting back on a year of what for me was pretty damned good in 2019, I can help but have great concern for our members in Australia.

Drought, climate change irresponsible people or whatever is causing this disastrous recent fire activity in Australia, does not matter. Australians are suffering tremendous loss of life and property. I am sure there are many who have suffered great loss in property and homes who may not have enough or even any insurance coverage for what ever reason.

My hopes are that none of our Australian members here are in danger, or have suffered loss of family life or injuries to loved ones.

Please consider providing assistance to our friends down under. One way is a donation to the Australian Red Cross

Same here. Stay safe. Everything but life is replaceable. I saw some pictures of people on beaches because that is the only place where something isn't on fire. The death of countless wildlife, mostly only found on that continent, is staggering.

    Thanks for your thoughts.
We actually have a lot of Canadian and US firefighters volunteering here at the moment.
There is a lot of good people going above and beyond what should be expected from anyone.
Most of these people are not paid for this, and have now been at it for over 6 weeks.
It is staggering how many forests we’ve lost.
    12,000,000 hectares and counting.
This is more than the California and Amazon fires combined and still no end in sight.
I’ve walked a lot of these forest wilderness areas, it is so sad that they’re being destroyed.
Some places will recover, some will never be the same again.
Even worse for the families that have lost everything or loved ones.
Sydney area recorded the hottest day ever yesterday at 48.9*C (120*F). Australia also recorded the highest average temperature a few weeks ago at 41*C for the whole country, including Tasmania which is in the Southern Ocean, this is the equivalent of every city or town in the US averaging out at 105*F.
All this and we’re not up to our hottest month which is usually February,
Let’s hope we get a break and some rain, we haven’t had any meaningful rain for over 6 months.

We hear on the news about Canadian people coming over to fight the fires and it is about time. The Australians have been coming to Canada for many years now to help out. Seeing as out forest fire seasons are exact opposite, I really don't know why the hell, the people who are in power, do not get their collective heads out of their asses and organized far more shared resources.. Canada is an extremely large country land wise. SO much of it covered in dense forest. We have a very large forest fire fighting apparatus here. This is not only manpower, but dozens and dozens o aircraft is various sizes including the Martin Mars. I think there is still one of those flying, We used to have three, but over the years, they have found the end of their lives. After all, they were built as flying boat bombers at the end of WW2. But they were massive. We have all sizes of water bombers that are sitting idle. Sure, some are getting refits and so on but I am sure there are many that can be flown over there to help the cause.

Another way you can contribute to hep financially and with the disaster relief is through the Salvation Army. They ae a great organization. Here in Canada at least, they are seeking donations specifically for this cause. And of all the charitable organizations, they spend the most of the money received in donations toward the cause. There is not high paid executives being paid in that organization at all.

    Stay safe Australia.

I hope they get the fires controlled and out soon. It's a terrible situation.

    Perhaps you can donate here.

An American model has raised more than NZ$750,000 for the Australian bushfire victims by promising to send nude selfies to those who donate.

Los Angeles woman Kaylen Ward decided to do what she could to help the relief efforts by encouraging followers to donate at least $10 in exchange for an X-rated image of herself.

Sad news from Australia this morning, 3 American firefighters died when their Hercules C130 Aerial water bomber crashed while battling fires, nearly everyone in a Fire zone had seen these heros in action everywhere doing what they do best and that is saving lives, they will be missed.

They may have even saved a work mates life who'd been struck trapped in his house near bushland, where the fire reach literally across the road until the roar and under belly of their Herc flew roof top level releasing it massive load of retardant smashing the fire in front of him and his trapped neighbours clean out.
