So, while motos are still my primary obsession, the loss of my beloved German Shorthaired Pointer just shy of her 8th birthday, Sunny, sparked a new fire ... (dock photo of her in orange vest)

I had never lost a dog where it hurt like this before. She got me through some tough times.

Well, about a month later, I lucked out and reconnected with her breeder whom Inhad tried contacted several times in previous years.

I ended up with her niece and nephew (Apollo and Rhea) who were whelped on July 5, 2019. This was very lucky, because there was only one male in Sunny's litter, and the breeder was able to track him down to Minnesota.

We are well on way way training for hunting, and they will compete in NSTRA. Their bloodlines are legendary in those circuits with a 23x and 16x NSTRA champs along with several other notables.

    Meet Apollo and Rhea ...

Nice dogs. we lost our Mutt last fall and it was very hard also, i don't know if it is the age we are at and paying more attention to the animals or what. is is a good way to help along the grief or what ever it is, my friend had a good way of doing it. he always had 2 golden of different ages so if 1 died he still had 1. Look up "America's Favourite Vet" and he will tell you why our dogs are dying earlier (according to him) (my flag changes when i post from the US)

AEF77A2D-0119-44E9-A567-4AD2C9BD4351.jpeg This is a pretty raw topic for me at the moment as we had to put our beautiful border collie Pepper down just over a week ago, after a wonderful but too-short 8 years. Sadly she had developed a big and inoperable cancer inside her chest, and was suffering. There's a big dog-shaped hole in my heart and household now. Treasure your new chums Jeff.
RIP Pepper. She was not a gun-dog, but if there was a stick or tennis ball to be rescued from the sea, she was on to it.

    Absolutely beautiful dogs.
    Enjoy the new kids.
When I lost my JIMMY that was seriously the worst heartache I’ve ever dealt with.

Thanks, guys. They're the smartest pups I've had yet. I was fortunate enough to be with them since they were whelped.

I'm so sorry for all your losses. They truly are family ... Sunny got me through the worst of my divorce (still not wrapped up) and some heartaches along the way.

Both these guys are big on personalities and incredibly smart. Perfect recall from about 3 months of age.

Regarding lifespans, there's a lot of stuff out there that's shortening them like grain free diets ...

Keep posting up your doggos! I love seeing the pictures!

Gorgeous! My first dog was a Siberian Husky ... his name was Nanouk. I was just a young punk when I had him and didn't know much about training dogs like I do now ... he was a great dog, just not so well trained. :D

So to make a long story short, my dog got away from my wife and him bein 90lbs and dragged the shopping cart across Home Depot’s floor and attacked an small dog.

    400 vet bill
Wife on probation for a year and has to report to her probation officer monthly.
Dog definitely has some issues but the reason I’m bringing this up is court demands training, and found the the best of the best here in CO.
May sound funny but he teaches you how to talk dog, I know sounds far fetched but Grizzly has done a complete 360 turn around with this training and technique.

Lot of great doggos here. We had 4 Dalmatians over the years, Dollie was a 2 year old rescue and the 4th. She was smarter than the other 3, loved the cats. Every time she went out (always without a leash) our Siamese was right along her side. She loved to follow me on my tractor. When she would go out on her own, she always stayed to the same path we took on the tractor. We had a 5 acre yard, 30 acres of farm fields on one side and 20 acres of woods on the other. When we let her out, she would run at full steam with her nose down, all over our yard, and along the edges of the field.

On day a friend was in the kitchen with us and Dollie. She jokingly started to count her spots. I pointed out that where her fur was black, her skin was black underneath. This held true about her feet and her mouth. To prove it I opened her mouth to show her, when I did, I discover a red disk on the roof of her mouth. We took her to the vets, and the verdict was cancer. They took off the disk for a biopsy, she was good for a couple months, then it came back. The removed it two more times, then the cancer grew through the roof and started block her breathing. That was final straw. Although she was healthy as a horse in every other way, we had to put her asleep.

For those of you that still have a dog or thinking of getting one, there is a great program on Saturday mornings on CBS call "Lucky Dog" where Brandon McMillian rescues a different dog every week from the pound and trains that dog for a specific family or person. His technics are very easy to learn and utilize. He trained a dog to detect when a diabetes patient needs life saving insulin, especially when sleeping.

So sad, I know to well of cancer since it took my Sister and Dad, Mom had it twice and beat it but not Alzheimer’s.
My last dog Jimmy was my son’s service dog and would detect a seizure before it happened and warn him.
Sense of smell 300,000 stronger then humans and could smell the chemical change and warn.
Dogs are such good healing for the soul and show nothing but unconditional love.
And they never dump a human like the scum that take there old dogs to the pound for a puppy for Christmas presents for there rugrats.
