Hi, just joined today. Been going to it for a while, but you know how it is... time at a premium ect. The lockdown has changed that, so here I am. Lifelong biker since 12 years old, competed at both trials and motocross back in the days when I used to bounce when I fell off. These days I just go splat and have to lay there for a while while I take stock of what still works and what doesn't. In a previous life I was a motorcycle techie / workshop manager / motorcycle riding instructor for 13 years. Got biked out and sold all my bikes to buy a boat, because I broke the cardinal rule of never letting your passion become your profession. Left the motorcycle training industry some 10 years ago and went back to my core trade - truck and bus technician, been reconditioning medium duty diesel engines ever since. Got a yearning for a bike, so bought a 22 year old VFR750 gen 4, stripped it within a half hour of getting it home and restored it to almost as new condition. Chassis, Brakes, Suspension all overhauled. Only thing I did not touch other than checking carb balance and valve clearances was the engine. It IS a VFR after all. So why a 22 year old VFR750? Well having had probably over 20 bikes in my time, I bought a VFR750 brand new in 1997. It was and still is the best bike I ever owned and one of two bikes I ever regretted selling (the other being a Yamaha DT175mx). I traded the viffer in for the gen two, Honda CBR1100xx super blackbird and regretted it almost immediately, the blackbird was a great bike for long, fast trips but a pain in the arse for town riding. I chopped that in for a Honda CB1300f3 which was also a great bike, but was not a VFR. So that's me. I probably already bored you half to death so you probably want to see some bike pics of the finished article. https://i.imgur.com/YjpejF3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/o0VgAhT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YrYudD1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TneG0nn.jpg? https://i.imgur.com/j9af3LW.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VgTO9Gf.jpg
Super nice 4th gen! I owned one for 7 years, its still a very missed favorite. Still love the analog gauges over the 5th gens digital in spots. Welcome
Hi Tin Kicker - Welcome to the MadHouse Congratulations on adding photos with your first post - and as you clearly know red VFR's are the fastest You may want to update your forum profile to include a rough location - City/town is close enough. That way if you ever need help with an issue you may find someone nearby willing to swing by and offer advice especially if you have a suitably stocked beer fridge. Take Care SkiMad
