6gen front brake vibrations and strange pad wear

    Hello all, had some small vibrations from the front brake for some time now, small enough so i drove with that for some time. Vibrations only at higher speeds and only when brake are applied harder.
    So few days ago took off the wheels for tire replacement and noticed strange brake pad wear (see picture) on front left caliper. Right caliper wear is even.
    The question is is such brake pad wear normal for the floating caliper? If not may it be related to the vibrations?

    PS i have searched through this and other forums and found some riders solved vibrations alike with new rotors, mine seem to be fine, from what i have seen while balancing the wheel on the machine. And i guess warped disc would be felt all the time.

    Here's something (front wheel related) that's easy to get wrong but also easy to correct:

    Every back yard/suburban-garage motorcycle "mechanic" is absolutely sure that he knows how to re-install a front wheel. They're so sure of themselves that they never read the Honda Maintenance Manual chapter that describes step-by-step how Honda wants it done.

    In the 5th Gen Maintenance Manual the description of re-installing the front wheel is a 10 step process. And one of those steps (which occurs in the middle of the process) is absolute black magic:

    You install and torque the axle to spec, then you torque the right-side fork leg pinch bolts to spec and then you install the fender the directions, then the directions tell you to pause in the assembly and get on the bike and "work" the front suspension and exercise the front brakes... then you are directed to tighten the left-side fork leg pinch bolts.

    Believe me, doing this correctly makes a difference in how the front tire works.

    maybe a stuck pad on the caliber pins, or something i do every year. i loosen the rotor bobbins by putting a bolt in each one and tightening until the bobbin turns (with some oil). the rotor is supposed to float a bit.

    Here is an older thread I started having been directed to this video by another member here. It is one thing I think you should do annually. Just disregard anything in that thread posted by sonofwolf. He is a fukken idiot and I think he is long gone from our lives now.
