Quick question, can you fit VTR fork internals into a standard VFR fork as don’t want to delink and muck around with making up brackets to completely swap the forks

It's a straight swap. I did it. You nay need to adjust the spring spacer length but if you are doing this, you are probably thinking of springing and damping changes anyway. Aside from the rebound neeedle/cap, the rest of the damper cartridge is the same between the VFR and VTR.

Terry beat me too it. Did the same but had DMr do the valving and shim stack changes along with a spring rate change.

He is but not necessarily what I was steering to, more for getting the internals adjusted, preferably by a knowledgeable suspension tuner. You can email him and see what it would cost, just for giggles.

The UK VTR owners speak very highly indeed of Roger Ditchfield at Revolution Racing. I suspect he know more about VTR mods than anyone.

That is such a British (English) name, I love it. With a name like that are you allowed out of the country?

The VTR folk refer to getting their forks "Rogered" as well. Go on, Google what that means in UK-speak!

I've actually spent a good bit of time in England: Mildenhall, Lakenheath, Fairford, and moments in other places with lots of Brits like Incirlik AB Turkey. I've witnessed fully grown Englishmen tittering like schoolgirls every time the super-serious and confident USAF fighter pilot briefer mentions "the ring" or "rings" or "making a ring-run" (while talking about Iraqi surface to air missile defences).

I've been lucky enough to witness (in person) this sort of chicanery:

Further on from this, I’ve held fire on picking up vtr1000 forks in favour of actually riding the bike (not the worst idea I’ve ever had) but now it seems not enough people are crashing VTRs and supplies of those forks are drying up and becoming expensive. Can you strip cbr600f2/3 forks and use their damper rods and tubes and just reuse the vfr bottoms so I can keep my wheels and brakes?

Just get a set of Andreani Misano cartridges for the stock forks.

Has anyone noticed the honda 98-01 service manual buggered the fork disassembly instructions ?
It looks like they transposed photos between a couple pages.
Apologies for hijacking an old thread.

I never noticed, as I've used a Clymer manual for this job.. but you're correct.

I reshuffled the photos around to match up with the steps.
