I ordered in August when I guess Italy shuts down, then they shipped via ocean to the US, just bad timing I think.

Installed ASV F3 clutch/brake lever set........a perfect fit......super adjustable, and break away style so they don't end up bent if you drop the bike. Great feel to them. I swapped them over from my 2003.

    Been doing some projects:

First, I installed the Top Box (I already had the panniers). I got a really good deal from HGB in the UK with all the fittings. Install is pretty easy, takes a bit of time, but the worst part is keying the Wave Key lock........without locksmith tools/jigs, just using your hands, its a bit of a test in patience, but follow the instructions and it all works as should (and as a bonus, I learned a lot about how locks work!)

Next, I installed the Quickshifter. The very simple mechanism as the bike is already setup for it, but removing the fairings on an 8th gen is a chore. There is so many little bits that need to connect when you re-attach them, if you don't get them all it may look "right" but it's not fully seated. So you have to take your time and not confuse the various very different fasteners. I love it! I have read complaints about people saying its a bit obtrusive and in the way, etc. I have a size 9.5 shoe, and I don't have an issue. I imagine the bigger your shoe is potentially the more an issue it may be. The clearance to get the sidestand down is a bit more difficult, but not an issue really. The fun factor is 10/10. It will take some getting used to:

And since I had the fairings off, I installed a Powerlet plug in my steering stem. For now, I just ran the wires to the battery, so its constant, but I will be installing a fuse panel and making this a switched circuit. I typically like to leave my USB/Voltmeter plugged in this, so I can always monitor battery voltage. This is probably just PTSD from my 6th gen days, but man I really wish Honda, especially given their history on electrical problems, would show battery voltage in the dash. I always leave the voltmeter in, yes someone could just steal it, but for the years I have had it in my 6th gen no one has.

Hi jjkidd58, awesome job mate. Great to see a personalised 8th gen. I was just looking at mine the other day and wondering what it would look like with the lower fairing panel done in black ( I even priced OEM replacements in darkness black metallic A$760) so now I know. I am also 61 years old (how did that happen ) still love riding the VFR though, the longer the ride the better. Stay safe, hope you are not affected by COVID too much, from the news we get here some states are not doing too well.

Looks really clean and tidy for a 6 year old bike with over 40k miles!
Testament to Honda build quality or to your pedantic cleaning/maintenance regime?

Bit of both to be honest. I keep it clean but I'm not too serious about it because it gets used for work every day, rain or shine (or did when I was going in to work every day and not just onsite once a week, and hopefully will again!) so it gets a wash every few weeks normally. I do stay on top of maintenance for the same reason.
The only thing that Honda build quality doesn't extend to is the fasteners, the black ones go rusty, the silver ones go furry, so there's over 400 nuts, bolts, washers and pins, etc. on there that have been changed for stainless or titanium, just to keep our salty British winters off. That really helps keep the bike looking cared for. For instance, every single fastener in this pic is not original. Maybe OTT but it works for me.

Looks very clean. What crash protectors are those you have fitted?

T-Rex, I believe you can no longer get them with the VFR logo due to copyright, not sure about that though. 954F9A98-202B-47A0-9314-DA2705FBA28A.jpeg

Cheers. They look really neat and easy to fit.
    Not too obtrusive either.

Still can’t get over how clean your bike is for its age and mileage!
Honda really built the VFR well; I bought mine new in 2019, the dealer said they are being discontinued as they don’t meet Euro5, one of the things that really attracted me to the VFR is the fact it’s a proper old school Honda.
Just looking around the bike close up you can see it’s very over engineered in places.
The front sprocket cover (I think that’s what it is), is metal not plastic.
Lots of other areas when you look closely also display this type of solid heft, I guess that’s why this bike is no lightweight!

Set up perfectly for me now and ready to tour.
10 months old with almost 7000 miles on it and it’s just a great bike.
