Sorry, maybe you saw an "indicated" 165. Speedo error on those is terrible and they had a actual top speed somewhere in the upper 140s.

150 plus 5 mph at 10,000 RPM or so - bear in mind thats a thousand under red line which neither bike has ever been run into red line in their entire life. Have two gen3 bikes, one has over 80,000 miles on it, almost a one owner bike, other has 30,000 was bought 6 years ago with 15,000 miles. Every time I go out on these bikes (not my daily commute) I hit 130 mph every time for at least a few seconds. The higher mileage bike rides amazing btw. I got a speeding ticket on the 93 @ 111 mph : ( beat it though - yep I edited,

A year later...lol...but what the hell...
I was recently chasing some newer liter bikes. I hit 145 mph on my 2000 5th gen, and it was still climbing. It looked like I would've tach'ed out around 150 -- I've geared mine down. My indicated speed is pretty accurate. I have a Speedo-healer, and I've checked it a number of times.

Id be surprised if it would hit 150, the power to weight ratio and the aerodynamics of the VFR are not great for top end. Next time i go to my local track I might bring the VFR along just to see what she will do, the back straight is very long. I'm shutting down the CBR at 177 to 181 every lap heading into a 2nd gear right hand turn.

How about some details on that 125 top speed? Bike, year, mods, elevation, tires, RPM in 6th gear etc.

On my 2001 VFR800, back in 2002 I hit an indicated 155mph riding through Death Valley, CA. Actual speed might have only been 140-145 (who knows) but that was all she had, wouldn't go any faster. At least it was faster than my buddie's Ducati 900SS.

Today on I5 through the south bound grapevine pass.
Had plenty more to give but the closing speeds to the trucks plus the crosswinds had me back out.
    Be safe everyone.

230 km/h - about 143 miles/h (speedo) with my old 1986 (750cc). Still had some left though, guess 10/15 extra km/h if I had few hundred meters more before the curve. Didn't pushed hard my "new" 5th gen yet (180 km/h), still getting to know each other :)
