Hi all! Long story short I picked up a project 95 vfr750. Ive got a long way to go, but the seller gave me a ton of extra parts. The first thing I have a question on - he gave me the whole rear end to some bike called an 04i? Said he had planned to swap it on to save weight. Is that a thing?
He also gave me large fairing pieces from a 92 or a 93 vfr750. They look very different, will they fit? Thanks in advance!

Yes that was it - is that swap doable and is there any benefit?

Looking at pictures of completed bikes, the older fairings definitely don't look like they'd fit. Go figure haha.

Everything can be made to fit.

How easily that is depends on your skill level & time you want to spend..

Why would you want to replace the single sided swingarm? Yes it's heavy but oh so cool looking. Would be alot of work. 90-93 bodywork will not bolt to the 95 bike. Yes you could make it work but correct parts would probably cost less in the long run. What color are the fairings. 93 should be white. Post some photos and mabey someone can swap or buy them outright. 94-97 parts are getting rare but you can still find them if you are patient. Lots of info and help here. Nice to see another vfr not dismantled for parts. They need to be on the road. Enjoy

    First update finally
New upper fairing stay and radiator
Cleaned and stripped of spray paint from previous owner
Mocked up clip on, will need new levers and grips
Went fairly well, minimum headaches so far

Wasn't talking about the swing arm, just the rear subframe. Im probably not going to do the swap anyway as it looks to be a lot more work than I want to do. Im just going to repair the bike and keep it somewhat close to stock. Different paint job and some aftermarket stuff but thats probably it

    Update time!

Figured the wiring harness out, filled raidiator and changed the oil and filter. Plugged in the broken gauge cluster. Used some tubing and a funnel to feed the bike gas and it started right up! Motor sounds great thankfully. The cables need to either be replaced or lubed as the throttle was not returning to zero.
After about 30 seconds of running the front of the bike started to smoke. Smelled like coolant, I think I must have spilled some on the motor while filling the radiator.
Have many new parts on the way, rotors, pads, new cluster and tank. Saving the plastics and paint for last. The previous owner did a number on the wiring harness with electrical tape, im going to remove it all and use the heat shrinking solder connectors to clean it up.

Installed new rotors and now have a question. One of the little cylindrical solid bearing things fell out of the front wheel upon install. I reinstalled it but when I put the wheel back on the bike, one side protrudes out further than the other. Is this normal? Both rotors seem to have the same amount of clearance from the forks at this point.

yes - the 'spacers' are sometimes a different size and require fitment in the correct place. As long as the callipers fit correctly you are fine.
