Been wanting the pearl white '93 for many, many years. Finally found a pristine example. It is now living happily among my '98 VFR800 and my '98 SuperHawk.

I have had a 3rd gen before and am well versed in how to play fairing jenga. But, beautiful things usually require a delicate touch.

And for the Superhawk comparison, there is no comparison. The SuperHawk will leave black streaks drifting the rear on corner exits during trackdays. That bike, The Pig, is my track training tool.

The Unicorn, she is for drinking gin and staring at. At night, if you open the door to the garage carefully, and if you listen closely, you can hear all three purr.

Fours off, four hours on. If your not gona paint either upper unit, why would you ever have to take it off? I got mine with some paint corrections from previous owner which I hated, found a second hand left upper and swapped them out. Patience and a long phillips head help. I have done it a another time where I removed both separately and left headlight in situ, I have a feeling you can remove the entire nose cone as one piece then attach it off the bike.

Nice score, how many miles on her? I am thinking about contacting a doode that had a large warehouse who I randomly met off of CL when he was trying to sell a derelict 93 five to six years ago. I ended up going over there and giving him a couple hundred bucks for his rear shock and swapped out my old unit. Sent the new to me shock out for a re-shoot of nitrogen and a lighter spring. I have spare plastics as well as a donor set of carburetors.

I have time, space not so much - question is does a sane person need a THIRD version of this bike?

I love the '93. I almost got one about 15+ years ago off eBay, but it got sniped at the last minute. Congrats.

I actually got complaints from my editor that he wanted pictures of me and the bike, not only the bike. The bike is the superstar here, definitely not me. So I kind of hammed it up as a bit of a smart-ass reply to his request.

The bike has about 48k on the clock, and I ride it nearly every day. Problem is my goal is to reach 100k on my 1998 VFR800 by the end of the year, and now riding the '93 so much is getting in the way of my mileage challenge. I suppose there are worse problems.

The full story is here https://roaddirt.tv/sledgehammer-and-the-unicorn/ in case you have problems sleeping at night, you've built up a tolerance to the Benadryl and need something stronger to put you to out for the night.
