2 years ago I found my battery was not charging and the reason turned out to be a burned stator. I managed to limp through the autumn by charging up the battery between each ride, then replaced the stator next winter. Now the same problem is back. Didn't think the stator could fail so fast, with less than 10000km after the replacement so I replaced the battery first. Did not help. Checked the regulator/rectifier (Tourmax aftermarket unit with cooling mods done) and all measurement look good. Though I did notice one of the connectors was slightly burnt, but that may be old damage. Then I measured the stator wires and all of them give 0.6 ohms to the ground and same between them. When the bike is running at 4000 rpm, I'm getting under 10 volts from each of them. I bought the replacement stator from Electrex, thought they were a quality brand. What else could be causing the stator to burn out so quickly?

Are you implying that Electrex stators are trash? The next replacement stator I ordered is made in MURICA, we'll see how long that lasts. But obviously I can't find an OEM stator for a bike this old, not one that will work anyway, so I'm stuck with aftermarket parts. I'm more interested in what else could cause the stator to burn out prematurely, there are no burn marks in the connectors between the stator and regulator/rectifier.
