My motorcycle won't start. The starter tries to engage a couple of times but and then dies as if the battery can't deliver.
The problem has gotten worse, from having difficulty not starting on hot days to no start at all.

    The lights come on strong.

The trickle charger says that the battery is all good BUT If I jump the bike with my car battery, the bike starts no problem.

When I turn the key to ON the battery goes from 12.7 to 11.3V (lights on)

When I press the starter switch the battery drops to 3.8V QUESTION: is that normal ?

I was going to run the battery directly to the starter as the manual suggested but the wire that is on the front of the starter facing the front well shows continuity to ground . QUESTION: Is that supposed to be the ground wire or do I have a faulty ground inside the starter. And if that is the ground wire, where is the POSitive? Is it hidden behind ? Because I can't see it.

Yes I agree, I think I am overthinking it because the charger tells me the battery is fine, but maybe it has enough delivery current but not enough crank current. BUT the other thing that puzzles me is that, the starter terminal buzzes to ground with the wire connected AND disconnected. I can see how with the wire connected it could do that because the Starter switch is there and once you press it you send the 12V instead of ground, but with the wire disconnected you would think that starter motor terminal would be open and not grounded. In any case, I am just going to buy a battery, but the grounded motor terminal still makes no sense and it is going to bug me even if it is the battery. Thanks.
