Has anyone done an engine swap in a 3rd gen? I’m tired of messing with my carbs.

I was thinking about trying a VFR800 motor but really just whatever I could find with EFI that’s cheap.

fixin carbs is a whole lot easier than an engine swap. :( typically. most engine mounting points won't line up properly, and you'd have wiring problems too.

bbtw, i have a set of gen3 carbs freshly cleaned and with new fuel tube o-rings for sale in our classified section. :wheelie:

The issues just never seem to stop with my bike. I’ll figure one issue out and then another pops up.
I had one carb leaking from the bowl and fixed it. Then the second time I was running it after that, another starting leaking or possibly overflowing. I verified the float heights.
Also, the fuel cut relay isn’t turning the fuel pump on. The only way I can get power to the fuel pump is to jumper it. I have replaced the relay twice.

    I’m ready to give up.

yep, i was ready to give up after the second time the relay crapped out on my gen2, so i've jumpered the relay on every honda i've owned since (27 years).

Reminds me of when I finally got my baby back to life!
Stick with it. I learned to get my carbs off and to take them apart and clean them...
Then learned what all that muck n rust on the tank can do.
Clean or COAT the INSIDE of the tank!
