Hello everyone. I am putting together a 1999 vfr800fi. Myself and this bike actually have quite the history. It all started a year ago, when I saw a rather wrecked vfr800fi 1999 for sale. The plastics were all tore up, I was not familiar with the VFR, but I fell in love quickly. I had previously had years of moped riding, followed by a vstar 650, followed by a ninja ex500. I fell so in love with the sound and possibility of the bike that I did a very poor job handling the paperwork, took some guys word for it, and ended up buying an out of state salvage on accident for $1,200. At least it had a Two Brothers muffler. ButREALLY dumb story.

Cut to some time into the future, and my neighbor finds the SAME bike, same year, SAME color, etc down the road for $800. Ran great. Bent fork, worst detail, just like the one I already had. I got it for $650. WE pieced together the best pieces into one bike. I got a plastics kit, I got decals, I painted rims, etc. And began selling off the extra parts, keeping the engine as a spare.

Here is a lovely picture of my new lady:

I still have black/red new pegs, black/red brake/clutch levers, smoke front turn signals on the way. I first painted the exhaust "red" and that turned out to be orange, so it is black for now. I also want a carbon fiber seat, but maybe not because I may be switching the exhaust for a high mount chrome delkevic. AAAAANyway...

    I have for sale:
    Two Brothers exhaust
    Stock Exhaust (A+ PERFECT condition)
    Handlebars
    Triple
    Coils
    ECU
    Whole brake system
    Swing Arm
    Rotors
A salvage frame (but in perfect condition)
Dash (w 22k miles on it)
    Ignition/lock
Possibly a whole stock exhaust pipe setup, will verify shortly on that, but it should be good, just rusty

All the above parts are in great condition. If you are interested, PM me or email me @ alanmyers@protonmail.com and we can find the cheapest post on ebay of that part, and find a lower price between us.

NOW, what I AM LOOKING FOR:
biggest desire: 1999 or compatible rear seat passenger cowl. I know I can get these from China, but I don't want to. Obviously preferably black but I can paint it if need be.
Either OEM windscreen (NOT chinese aftermarket oem style), or preferably a race/double bubble/aftermarket original windscreen. Preferably light smoke. Having a lot of fitment issues with this item with the chinese aftermarket. Would like to try a nice aftermarket or true oem original.
A power commander, 5 or 3, or whatever that works. I would prefer to trade or do partial trade for this item due to cost. OR if you can tune my ecu by mail or send me a tuned one, I would be all ears.
VFRNess maybe? Similar items to help with these electrical gremlins? I had to swap rectifiers quickly.

I know there were some other things.. I will add later when they come to me!

PS. Yes I know the VFR decal is not perfect on the side of this photo, I have to redo the decals. I got a cheap kit because I knew I would screw up my first attempt lol. I will get the proper kit next go around in the future. For now, I can live with it. I did not want to get the kit from China due to the coovid delays, general unease about long shipments and customs etc etc etc did not want to wait for broken items. SO I had to settle for the one kit avail, a black one without decal.

Thank you everyone and it is wonderful to meet you! I know I will be around here, loving it here...

Welcome to VFRW! I hope that you enjoy your VFR as much as I enjoy mine.

Thank you guys :) I sincerely love the 5th gen VFR800. Only issue is a fork leg is bent, gotta swap fork tubes soon. I have everything I need, I just got enough of fixing the fork on my ninja ex500. Not a fork fixing fan. Thinking about throwing new springs in there while I am there.

Got the Delkevic high mount exhaust on... the bike was stinky at idle a bit, no more. It was louder and mid-tone grit/angrier sounding with the two bros, more bass w/ delkevic, but the bike feels a bit more polished in general and feels better at top end. But two bros took the cake in sound by far. Might have to find a way to return some of the volume. I do have a shorty delkevic carbon fiber on an ex500 I may try swapping today. But the new setup is soooo pretty. Should have my new smoke turn signals today or tomorrow, and hopefully this trade goes through for a passenger seat cowl =D

Only thing I will not sell that is on the salvage bike is the engine. Eventually I will be selling the frame for someone's track bike once all is disassembled. If there is something you can use, email me and see if I have an extra. My list up top for parts for sale/trade is incomplete.

So I now have a carbon fiber two bros standard mount slipon available for sale or trade. I really want a power commander and the ungodly cost (for me) is a real bummer. ANYONE with such or similar equipment desire a carbon fiber two bros? ;)

(I realize that you with the PC whomever you are have the edge on value in the trade and would also require a little something ($?) extra)

Update, if anyone has a tail light that is not broken I would have a huge desire for that has a trade item. The tail light on mine is not broken on the outside, however it only has one mounting tab on the inside and the mounting tabs for the plastics are broken, so they just sort of hug there. It works OK still, but I would like to avoid any future broken plastics!

Thank you for the Rotors! I''m going to powder coat my rims before I install them.

Have you painted the Seat Cowl yet? Did you take some photos of the plastic welding process that you would like to share with us?

I have an oem '99 rear seat cowl that is in perfect condition. However, it has been professionally repainted silver/gray metallic. I'm thinking it would look good on your black VFR.
