Hi everyone, recently bought myself a 1999 vfr800 and i'm loving it :wheelie:
Just gave it a full service, new tyres, exhaust, Hagon rear shock, seat and a mosfet reg/rec.
Now waiting for lockdown to end and some decent weather so I can get back out on the road.
Any one local to east anglia for meet up some time??[IMG]

If I was still living in Basildon, I'd take you up on your offer. Welcome aboard.

Thank you :) I bought it from a local dealer who advertised it as the cleanest one they had ever seen! Three months later and an empty wallet it is now "clean". It's only got 24k on it and it rides like new. Anyway, Basildon to Portland! I'm jealous, How did that happen?

Used to be despatch rider in London, the company I worked for set up an office in Los Angeles, and I came out in 1988. Changed careers and relocated to Portland in 2002-that's the short story. :)

Hi, thank you :) I had the wheels powdercoated in an anthracite colour and added the stripe myself. They were a fleebay purchase of £15.00 and were actually good quality and ok to put on :). I just think it breaks up the darkness off the wheel/tyre.

thanks for the quick reply, there is a very good powder coater here in Grantham that I may use as I am not a fan of the black wheels but the red stripes do look good will check out what is available online

Welcome aboard, lovely bike, I found a minter myself in 2019, almost like it just rolled out of the factory, one very careful owner and 15k miles,
I changed the wheels to silver, they look much better than black.

No it's red, I'll try and add a few pics later, the road racing was a big miss in 2020 and it will likely be cancelled this year too,
I see a very low mileage yellow 5th gen for sale in Dublin, low mileage bikes typically need alot of refreshing though they've been sat idle so long.
1999 Honda VFR 800 ONLY 8,000 Miles for sale in Dublin for €3950 on DoneDeal

John McGuinness is a class act, one of the best road racers ever, nice fella too, always has time to speak to the fans.
