Now that I've got my bike up and running, she's mechanically sound no leaks, and no immediate problems.

SO.. Now I wanted to start looking for recommendations for good waterproof soft cases (or cheap hard cases) along with mounting options that don't include removing my passenger foot pegs, as I'd like to take a trip at some point with the misses.

    Thanks all in advance!

I rode with Cortech side bags along with their Top bag. I had done a few very long trips with them. The side bags expanded outwards so their capacity was quite good. They were water "resistant" but I live on the west coast of Canada and most my trips were heading down the west coast of USA in the spring, so the riding was totally i the rain for a substantial part of the trip. I packed my clothing and electronics in kitchen catcher garbage bags for that added protection.

I really liked them but wanted the OEM hard cases, which I bought used. I would go back to them if I were to return to soft bags.
