    Hello Viffers,

Back in September, I was fortunate to have gotten my hands on this bike and that one had ABS. Well for fear of my mom's health the coming winter for her, I dropped out of school in Phoenix at MMI and sold my VFR to fly back to NY. I was not about to drive it home in crap weather and when I was leaving Phoenix on a plane it had already snowed on the border of AZ and NM.

I really loved my VFR, and I may be getting the same year, just not ABS.

I am already looking into some things I would like to do.

    1. Reduce its Weight (improve handling)
    2. Adjust seat height.
    3. Power Commander V and O2 sensor mod
    4. Gear Indicator
    5. Aftermarket Slip-On exhaust. I did this with the last one and the weight of the stock exhaust was
    6. A good suspension mod
    7. Snorkel mod

On seat height, I know a ways back I had a thread going on this but for the sake of my weight-reduction question, I posted a whole new thread. I hope you guys don't mind. Recently I sat on a Suzuki GSX-R750 that has a seat height of 31.9". This for many of you know makes it .2" higher. However, I was closer to a double flat-foot because the Gixxer is just so much more narrow between your thighs, and the VFR is not.

Aside from trimming the seat foam, is there something I can do on the sides that will not hurt the beauty of this bike? What are some good parts your guys recommend for improved handling?

Dump the main stand, fit a light weight lithium battery, and remove and clean out all the stones and other road gunk normally trapped behind the lower fairing panels.

    My $.02

*My 6th gen shed about 12 pounds by going aftermarket exhaust and the custom headers being made on VFRD
*Adding a lithium battery may get you to 20 pounds total
*You can probably shed a few more pounds losing the vapor canister and PAIR system
*Get a Rapid Bike instead of a PC V. Unlike PC, RB tunes as you ride and has a great tune right out of the box. Change air filters, exhaust or ride at different altitudes, RB adjusts on the fly, PC V does not.
    * Jamie Daugherty has an integrated solution for shock and forks tuned for your weight and the way you ride. The bike will read your mind in the corners. Best mod for the $.
*Removing the snorkel will do nothing for engine output. If you like the sound better with it out go for it. The airbox was tuned by Honda for the engine's best output, messing with it will net no performance benefits.
*If you need the seat lower, there are ways of lowering the bike with the shock link and moving the forks up slightly in the clamps. A search should turn up some guidance on that. Making the foam thinner could be a threat to your family output, if you know what I'm sayin' . . . and possibly make it miserable for long rides. If you do lower it you may have sidestand issues - probably good to read up on that before moving forward.

First thing I did 10 years ago was shave the seat especially between the thighs and installed
    Lustracing lowering triangles.
You raise the fork tubes 10mm and shorten the kickstand.
Then suspension mods, installed Jamie’s fork inserts and had him rework a ABS rear shock OOTV found me on eBay $100

Thanks for that. Yeah, the stock exhaust is very heavy.
