Hey guys, this will take a little explaining, but the bottom line is the thing.. What obstacles if any will I encounter if I swap a 1998 engine into a 2000 'bike'?

Here's the needed explanation.. I'm the guy that has taken 5th gen motors and swapped them into small, light cars... My latest VFR/car swap is in my 1959 Berkeley; build log here-

    https://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=19397

Here's where I am now.. I sourced bike #1 (2000 VFR800) and used that bike's wiring harness and engine in the Berkeley.. Seems I've just had catastrophic engine failure (March 4, 2021) with this engine. So, now it's onto the backup plan.. I have bike #2 (1998 VFR800) waiting to donate it's motor into the car.. this bike ran fine in this video-

Still reading? My challenge is this.. can I take the 1998 motor and swap it into the car, and simply plug it into the 2000 wiring harness? I imagine I'd need to plug the 1998 ECU into the 200o harness? I know the later bike had 02 sensors (which I eliminated)... what other differences were there? The 1998 has a manual choke which is fine.. anything else? I've modified the 2000 harness to 'fit' into the car, and I'd like to not have to totally swap the 1998 harness in if I don't have to.

Thank you for your thoughts and expertise on this.. and for the record, both of these donor bikes were in rough shape before I parted them.. I DID NOT butcher a 'good' VFR for this :)

You'll be fine. The y2k update didn't change engine internals from what I can see and the injectors are the same, so same connectors. If you download a shop manual (maybe on the other forum) you can see the wiring diagrams (section 20). They show both '98-'99 and "after '99" versions when things are different, however the changes were minimal.

Hey man, I put a motor from a 2001 vfr into my 1998 vfr and used my existing harness and wiring. Have had no probs, runs fine.
