    Hi all,

I've just picked up a single owner 2016 VFR800F and loving it.

I'm now looking for a set of panniers and / or top box, preferably OEM. New price through Honda is obscene - so looking to go second hand.

Metallic black preferred, but also happy to re-paint.

    Thanks,

    Sean

I think there are at least 4 companies that make kit for you.

    OEM.. great & expensive.
Givi - pretty good, lot cheaper.
    Kappa - same as Givi
Shad - supposed to be fine..

    Thanks Driving Pete,

I’m trying to stay OEM and have been looking around for OEM, but it seems black was quite rare in Aus and even finding the other colours are proving difficult through dealers.

May local quoted me $2500 for the panniers alone, in a different colour, and couldn’t even confirm they would fit my year model so I don’t hold them in much regard to help with this...

SHAD Aus have also advised they can’t supply the top case fitting kit any more with no reason why given by the manufacturer.

I’ve looked abroad, but postage will kill me.

As far as I know the last model covers 2014-2016. US models ending in 2014 and across the pond up to 2016. So I would think but not assume that all parts are the same for the 8th gen. Anyone else know if this is correct?

In Europe the 8th Gen VFR800 model is referred to as the VFR800F and whilst they are not currently in production in Japan, UK dealers still have access to a few "pre-registered new stock". (NB The rest of the world only ever got what was sold in North America as the DLX). The reason dealers in Europe had to pre-register their VFR800F models was that they were only tested to meet the older "Euro 4" emission standard which has now been replaced with Euro 5 from 1 January 2021. Hence all genuinely "new" motorbikes sold in Europe have to meet the new standard which the VFR800F does not. One consequence is that if anyone is looking for a new bike at a bargain price - dealers are now very keen to do deals on their remaining VFR800F inventory.

As for obtaining OEM factory luggage for an 8th Gen model - the panniers are the same and mount in exactly the same way as the 7th gen (VFR1200) models. In essence they are interchangeable, so you may want to extend you search to panniers for a 7th Gen VFR.

I have not checked it myself but the relevant parts are shown in the "TOURING" VFR800F section of this brochure..

    https://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/my-bike/accessory-brochures.html

It looks like you can look at the mounting system as separate from the actual choice of top box. So to fit any brand of top box onto an 8th Gen, you will probably need the OEM mounting bracket which is "REAR CARRIER BRACKET - 08L71-MJM-D10" (I think it is only sold in Black)

But you can then attach whatever mounting plate is needed for the type of top box you choose. So if you buy a GIVI Monolock top box you would need a GIVI Monolock mounting plate to attach it to the Honda bracket.

    Hope that helps
