Well, I cannot figure out how to get the cables back on after changing the handle bars and throttle tube. There just isn't enough slack. It looks like the only solution is to remove the two screws that hold the cables holder to the throttle body assembly. But the only way to do that looks to be pulling the throttle bodies up. Don't want to do that. No way to get a screw driver on them at the correct angle. Frame is in the way.

The manual is mute. I also have a Clymer that says remove the two screws holding the cable holder to the throttle body assembly. Like I said, good luck with that.

Maybe some kind of JIS Phillips bits with a small ratchet might work??

Anyone have a brilliant suggestion? Or any suggestion for that matter.

    Thanks!

    Gary

That's what I did, JIS bit with mini ratchet. Fun job no matter what.

I just ordered some extra screws since I'm sure I'm gonna tear the existing ones up. Also ordered some JIS bits. It's always the small stuff like this that gets in the way of progress! Well, I'm not looking forward to doing the Delkevic Full System install. That's next and I'm sure an even bigger bitch.

Did you lube the cables at the throttle body (or throttle tube) ? I've seen techs on YouTube use Vaseline on the exposed cable ends where they connect. The manual does not call for that.

I did use a cable lube at both ends of each cable, not worrying about lubing the entire cable. I would not use anything greasy like Vaseline to attract dirt.... and FYI, Vaseline melts at a low temperature.

Thats what I thought. Why would you want to gum it all up with dirt. I like the cable lube idea. Especially since I ordered two cans by accident. I have enough for a 100 bikes now!

Tried that. Need a really thin wall 10 mm. I managed to move the top one around. But, the bracket really has to come off. So, I guess I'll wrestle with it this weekend. Really want to ride the darn bike. Have had is since October and managed 30 miles. I know when I get it back together I'll have to figure out where the squeak/squeal is coming from, which I fear is the clutch. There is no such thing as a cheap bike. Well that feels good anyway!

Is it Spring in Buffalo yet or still melting snow?
