    This followed me home yesterday....

2008 Anniversary Edition Buell 1125R . These have the Rotax engines (like the Aprilia)

Came with a Buell leather jacket (never worn), 2 Buell helmets, and tons of extras. I did well on this for about $2500US.

Ill put all the OEM parts back on it (theyre in a box - seat, bars, foot pegs, windshield etc), and clean it...its flithy filthy.

Funny, I was just talking to a dude at Blackhawk this week about the 1125R. He said that the first time that one of these Buell 1125's blew past him on track was when he realized that he needed to be wearing ear plugs.

Sweeeeeet bike! The HD dealership near me when I was younger had a handful of Buell's, and I'd go on my VF and stare at the Firebolts. Those 1125's are insanely wide with the fairing if I remember correctly. Was the 1125R on your radar, or you just couldn't pass this one up for the price? Crazy you got that for ~$2500USD at a time when used toys are going crazy with pricing.

It wasn't on the Radar, it just came up by word of mouth through a buddy and I thought if I could get it for the right money....I cant lose. The guy had tried selling it 2 yrs ago and pulled the plug on selling because some Hells Angels wanted to buy it and he got a bit freaked out. He was happy to discount the price for someone that was a friend of a friend.

The upper fairing is VERY wide for sure. Its never been down, and has only 6000 miles (10,000km) on it. There is a nice XB9 Firebolt in the same town for sale, but the guy wants way more $ than I want to spend. XB12 Firebolt in white would be a nice companion to this one.

Im not sure the Buell's could win too many beauty contests, but they are unique for sure.

The bike is already coming apart for StrayCat-izing

Not my cup of tea but for that price I would have pounced on it happily. Nice werk.

I'm with TC on this one. Not for me, but I can appreciate the engineering and a deal.

Im appreciating the lines & ingenuity of this bike more everytime I look at it. Love it more every day its here.

I spent this week , cleaning , cleaning and more cleaning, followed by returning it to stock (all the parts came with it). Removed the ghastly handlebars, foot pegs, windshield and gel seat and put the OEM stuff back on. New bar grips and a new Battery.

Bike looks big but it is quite light at 375lbs, and with aprox 150HP + (with the Racing ECM) it should be a fun bike if I ever get around to riding it.

Buell did some interesting stuff keeping the weight down, Using the frame for the fuel etc. Bodywork has no paint on it, its all pre-coloured plastic, so you have to be careful polishing it. Radial brake discs reduce some sort of lateral loading on the front wheel and allow for a much smaller and lighter hub as well. Mass Centralization is one of the Buell principles, which is why you get the muffler where you do. Lots of Other interesting little features too. Must have been one of the first bikes using LED's in the turn signals as well. Handle bar clip-ons are built into the top triple clamp

It is very cool. The proportions are just off for me. A one piece 3/4 cowl that incorporated the upper and air scoops would help. It's like Craig Vetter came along and tried to "help". The upper is just so... up there. And out there. The center between the headlights is almost even with the front tire. If I use my thumb to hide that hideous upper cowl, the bike looks amazing.

    But still cool.

your not wrong Capn', but it sure does grow on you. The upper is super wide and "out front". But the more you rub her with a soft micro fibre cloth, the more attached you get. :).

Sitting on it now that the ergo's are back to stock, it just feels very right, before it was like sitting on top of a giant 150hp scooter. Steering seems like it will be quite quick as well.

Sometimes I buy a bike on a whim and im left wondering why, this time.....Im very pleased, it makes me smile, so Its all good. Definitely gonna keep her for a while.

If you like it and it makes you smile, that's all that's needed. I'm just pokin' fun, I'm sure you know that.

Oh Yea, I know that. Im not offended. All good.

But, whoever designed those windjammer fairings for that Honda should be stuffed. That's gotta be some sort of crime against the motorcycle community.

I remember seeing Windjammer fairings on just about every model bike back in the 70’s ….

And he followed the Windjammer with the Quicksilver. I had a couple of those and they were great for
protection without the huge Windjammer look.

Don't forget he also designed the Hurricane. Gorgeous bike, totally useless, but undeniably gorgeous.
