    Hey

Question about the socket housing for the blinkers regarding the different "versions" of gen 6 VFR800.

Pre 2006 the front blinker units for VFR800 had a yellow lense, but it was changed to a clear lense after 2006. At the same time, Honda ofc changed the socket housing (the blinker unit minus the lense) fitting for the blinker bulb holder, making it slightly smaller amongst a few other things (I'll attach an image from another post).

At the moment I'm trying to change my front blinkers to switchback leds, and the new bulb holder is too small for my bike (since it was made in 2003, and this unit apparently is for post 2006 units).

Now for the question - do anyone know if the blinker socket housing AFTER 2006 fits the models BEFORE 2006? I'm thinking of buying a couple of those then and then just change the whole unit. But I'm not sure if they are the same dimension and if the holes line up difficult to find info.

    Thanks in advance!

The socket or bulb can be trimmed to fit. Question effecting using switchbacks is does your bike have the running lights?

Normally a 7440 (2 wire) is used but I couldn't figure where Homda was feeding power from for the running lights and it confused the switchbacks.

I changed the pigtail sockets to 7443 (3 wire) and ran the center wire to a switched source. Of couse the switchback bulbs you get will be 7443.

Took some trouble shooting but it's nice.

Unfortunately, it cannot be trimmed in this case. This is because the bulb holder is smaller than the socket housing, there is nothing to be trimmed off rather something would need to be "filled out".

I'm not completely sure about the bulb designations, haven't look that much into it since this is a custom built solution. The LED:s have two different colors - white and amber. The amber LEDS works as usual taking power from the blinker circuit while the white running light takes power by tapping into the small light furthest down in the headlights (the parking light I guess it is called).

Ahh, the US setup is quite different. I just noticed where your writing from. We don't have the running light in the headlights, it's not even drilled out. We have the actual turn signal receiving a low voltage signal from "somewhere" to light up as running lights. Your's is easier to integrate switchbacks electrically.

Back to fitment I'm not sure. It looks like US version. I'm headed over to my bike later today & I'll take some pic if it may help. Either way there's bound to be an OE supplier with the right pigtail sockets.
